no it's not true but it can be fun to see if it works. the only real way of finding out the sex of your child is by an ultrasound (Normally the 20 week one will tell you if bub is co-operating and not being coy. My little girl was just lying in my uterus with her legs open wide so we knew for sure then LOL. I was hoping she'd be a little more ladylike then that!)

the chances of boy/girl are 50/50 unless you already have 2-3 of the same sex already. However funnily enough when i was pregnant my little girls heart rate sounded like a horse galloping -fast- a girl. a boy is slow sounding like a steam train. the old wives tales are fun to practice and SOME people who choose old wives to determine the sex have never been wrong - a popular one is the swinging of a pendant - or an old ring over a pregnant bump, if it swings one way it is a girl, the other its a boy.

No of course not otherwise doctors would tell you what the sex of the baby was at 10 weeks.

No!! Both my kids had high rates in their heart beats and I had one of each...a boy and a girl.

No way. My son's heartbeat has been high 150's or low 160's the entire time, and we're pretty sure he's a boy!

I think it's true, it worked on both my kids and two of my friends. But still it could be 50/50.

not true what so ever about 5 midwives guessed i was having a girl with my 1st and hey it was a boy x

apparently yes when our daughter was born the midwife said she knew is was a girl from the rate of her heartbeat
