Why is it statistically reported that darker skin people are racial profiled more than whites?

I agree with the previous poster, but have another thought to add, courtesy of a friend who's a former police officer. He stated that when they were on the force, they were trained to look for anything unusual, whether it involved a car full of young black men slowly cruising a predominantly-white neighborhoods, or vice-versa. The myth is that lynch mobs only happen in rural areas, but they happen in urban areas as well, thus the caution to watch for groups of young white men in predominantly-black neighborhoods.

That's just the training; it's up to the individuals we trust to protect and serve to not use that training in a biased manner. Well, and the snide addition to that comment, from one of the experienced officers, was that if white people were in black neighborhoods, they were just there for drugs and prostitutes. Nice! I can't count the number of black students who've reported to me that they've been pulled over, simply for being black, hispanic, young, whatever, because they were driving a nice car. One young woman's senior prom was ruined, because her date, a young black man, borrowed his father's Lexus to drive her and their friends to the prom. Another student, a young white male, reported continuing harassment because he drives a classic car he fixed up himself (I saw it, and it's lovely).

Because they commit so many crimes trying to be cool and gangsterly and then complain they got caught because of profiling, here is an idea if you don't want to be profiled don't act dress or talk like a criminal and and as a whole blacks should quit committing so many damn crimes. It is not done out of necessity any more it is done because they were too stupid to stay in school and too lazy to find a damn job. That's why they commit so many crimes, and if i was a cop and wanted to make arrest I would watch the criminals it is common sense.

Why are dark skin people racially profiled, because when someone different than us does something to harm us, we automatically associate this action to the difference between us to rationalize it. In this case white people (who make up most of the police force, and decision makers in national security) have this association between criminal acts and color, because for the main part colot is the main difference between them and the perpetrator of the act.

why can't we see it in ourselves, because you cannot associate something bad to something within you. obviously that would make you bad, and for the most part people who believe in racial profiling tend to be holier than thou types.

Darkness=evil, white=pure(light means they never make mistakes) Bull sh** and to the Fool who said its because we wear certain clothes and such, that's complete bull and you can't possibly believe that, because Black people I work with dress conservatively and have positive attitudes, they were stopped for dumb things. They were dark skinned. Let's face it, I'm not going to stop embracing my culture just to please people who are afraid of whats different.

this is strictly my opinion. blue collar crimes are easier to solve. in order for police to solve a white collar crime....they would have to get more education. most police officers have little education. how are they to understand a white collar crime??? oh to answer the original question...its unfortunate but i think its habit. an easy answer.

because MOST blacks are poor and poverty breeds crime. Even though 80% of whites are criminals, most are not poor. MOST WHITES COMMIT WHITE-COLLAR CRIMES. COPS ARE WORRIED ABOUT BLUE-COLLAR CRIMES AND PEOPLE OF COLOR COMMIT THOSE CRIMES TO LIVE LAVISHLY LIKE WHITE FOLKS! blacks are 12.9% and because most are poor, police focus on them. Also, racist cops are on there!

If you're a cop and you see many black criminals, your mind automatically believes that stereotype.

BUT YOU MUST NOT FORGET, WHILE THE STEREOTYPE WORKS FOR THE MAJORITY, IT DOESN'T WORK FOR THE MINORITY!
