Does news channels and papers depress you and lose interest in life?

no they piss me off half the time. one channel is bias for one party, while the others are bias for the other party.
mud slinging, finger pointing....cowardly BS! im sick of it!

I still don't know why we keep watching the news on TV and reading the newspaper about all the horrible things that happened the day before. It effects me, as I'm sure it does the majority of people. It doesn't necessarily make me lose interest in life, but I do become a little more depressed. Movies and music have a bigger effect on me than anything. I've come to realize that things that have a negative effect on my psyche also have a way of making me watch or listen to more and more of it. It's just a perpetual thing for some reason. I just wish it was the same way with the positives.

Only if you allow it to. Whether it's depression you deal with or maybe you are too empathetic, either one can bring you down when you see tragedy on the news. But it has never made me lose interest in life because I know that what I see on tv is not happening everywhere and that good things also happen but the news usually doesn't report on that.

I wouldn't say they cause me to lose interest in life, but when I read the news I do find myself more depressed after I read it. It seems that everything reported is bad.

Often. I avoid news media as much as possible, figuring that anything of real importance will filter through to me anyway. They depress, they anger, they disgust. They seldom do anything else.
