Diamonds and oil are both high priced items that most of the world wants or needs. Some of the countries where these items are found are very poor. Everyone in those countries wants at least some of "the action" from the sale of such items. A lot can be done for a family, or tribe, group of families, or tribes, or other group of people if they gain control of the oil or diamonds. One might say its simply greed. Perhaps its survival of the fittest.

Some of the nations in Africa are so underdeveloped and unorganized. Some are still ruled by various tribal leaders. As a result, the world seems not to care. The rest of the world just wants the money from the diamonds or oil. They could care less who is in power or gains power in those countries.

It is not because world leaders do not care about Africa. It is the seriousness of the ways of meddling. UN are indeed trying to meddle in politically. The thing is we cannot just say the african people will be happy in the end if we try to step in to stop civil wars there. It is not that simple. Even if we do stop the civil wars there, using military to meddle in Africa can have serious consequences like terror and animosity ...creating more deaths and destruction. And it is just not only about diamonds and oil, there is also about what religion a country should be based on...like in Sudan.
