I thought he was ok for his role but he could have done better. I didn't expect the guy who played Spider-Man to look like a wus.

Interesting point.... I liked him. Being a fan of Spider-man (for more years then i want to admit) I think that the wussy look was spot on. Here was an actor who looked wrong for a superhero role... yet much of the early Spider-man comics were the same way. Take a look at some of them... Peter is so thin and timid and well... geeky. And compare that with how athletic, quick witted and how much of a jerk that early Spider-man is. Constantly (in the comics) when a villain unmasked Spidey, they disbelieved this was the real deal BECAUSE he looked so frail and wuss-like.

You didn't expect him to look like a wus? If I were you I would delete this question immediately. You are going to get some bashing in a second. The people who made Spider-Man was suppose to find an actor who looked geeky for the role. That was part of the deal. Oh by the way you are wrong about Tobey sayin he sucked. He did an excellent job as Peter Parker. Did you even bother to watch the trailers for Spiderman 3? He really doesn't look wussy lookin in the 3rd one. Please take this question off you might piss people off.

Mike S sux,
Just had to get that out of the way.
For all of the people out there who don't know jack$#!T about comics, PLEASE avoid referencing comics to "support" your answers. To wit:
Peter Parker was only scrawny and geeky for like the first 25 issues of the comic book (In the FREAKING 1960's!!!). After that point, when Peter was in college and becoming more independent, they changed his look completely. Steve Ditko (the original artist/co-creator of Spider-Man) ditched the glasses and filled him out a bit, then when John Romita took over, there wasn't a lick of scrawny to be found. And though Ditko's faces fluctuated in quality from page to page, Pete was NEVER ugly like this Tobey douchebagg. The casting people would've done better to get someone they could make look temporarily scrawny and geekly than cast a scrawny geekly tool that will never look like the ripped hombre Pete is (and almost has always been) in the comics. And SERIOUSLY people, reading Spider-Man comics, did you ever in your mind imagine his voice to be so WHINY?!?! Jaysis.
The Spider-Man movies suffer from the same thing as the comics - too much Parker, not enough Spidey. And a puss-e actor playing the lead was the final straw. Now all I want to do is blow up Raimi's stupid car.

He did ok but too wussy looking in the beginning. He took some getting used to and I think he's done a good job. They upgraded him for the movie, giving him built-in spider webbing but used the Peter Parker version of the 60s when Spidey was first introduced. It didn't effect the popularity of the movie any and overall, the spiderman movies have been well-done!

Me.
Don't get me wrong, tobey is a great actor, and you are somewhat wrong because thats more along the line of the script and tobey does look kind of dorky but Peter is somewhat of a dork lol. But they are also forgetting that spiderman had a smart mouth and tobey isnt really someone that looks like a smartass. so yea, i think they should have had some1 a little tougher than tobey

you know what i have to agree with you,he isnt that great of an actor, but he did do spider man really good.and if you know the spider man story, tobey m.was a good choice.i think he said that he wasnt even gonna get accepted until he showed theml;that he could do the role.and the original character is a sort of weakling look guy anyway.

they made peter parker to be a complete wuss in the movies. Although my only knowledge of peter parker comes from the Spiderman cartoon that was on Fox in the 90's. I saw Tobey on the tonight show, he is just like peter parker in the spiderman movie. Decent actor, I think he still needs to prove himself

Yeah? Well next time read the plot better. He was supposed to look like a wus at first, gradually getting cooler in the 2nd and 3rd.
