Gerald Ford was president between Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter..

Nixon was pres from 1969-1974...and then had to resign due to scandal...and Jimmy Carter won election in 1976, serving from 1977 - 1981...

Nixon's original Vice Pres was Spiro Agnew, who resigned from the post just before Nixon did...

Gerald Ford was nominated by Nixon to take Agnew's place, and was "confirmed" by the Senate...

Then, when Nixon finally DID resign...Gerald Ford became president...

The only president who became president in this manner, by the way....

PS: When JFK was assasinated in 1963, there was a man in the car with him called John Connolly, who was wounded as JFK was killed. Connolly was Nixon's first choice to replace Agnew, but was told by the Senate that he would not be "confirmed", so Nixon nominated Ford instead...and...

Gerald Ford worked on the Warren Commission, which investigated the JFK assasination...

PSS He was shot at twice on two separate occasions, but was never hit...

Hope that helped...it IS confusing...

1. I'm going to take a guess that you made it through our "wonderful" school system.

2. It ceases to amaze me how the school system pushes our kids through without knowing some of the most basics they should be teaching.

3. Taxpayers should be demanding more education for their dollars! (The schools are always worried about having equipment, but what about the actual education that kids are missing, while making sure they've got dodge balls, etc.)

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS:
1st question (see above)
2nd question (no, he wasn't assasinated)
3rd question (see below)

Staples has an excellent deck of cards on the Presidents of the United States of America. These are educational cards covering all the presidents from our first (George Washington) through/including our current (George W. Bush). There's all sorts of interesting facts for each president on each flash card, which can be used for learning, trivia, or to play a card game. In addition to the presidents, there are extra cards that cover a few additional historical eras, etc. I bought one deck for my 9 yr old granddaughter & one deck for myself. The challenge is for each of us to learn & to quiz one another randomly at the drop of a hat.

gerald ford was before your time. i met him twice when i was in radio. he was a man not elected to the presidency who led the nation out of watergate in the seventies after nixon resigned. the coutnry was a mess at the time because of what happened in the govt and the viet nam war. many people at the time criticized him about the pardon of nixon but he felt that was more important than the poltical ambition of another term as president. he served two years. he was regarded as a good president with the strength of his convictions...something rare nowadays with the prevelance of pelosi type liberal pap in washington.

He wasn't assassinated- although there were two attempts on his life when he was president. He was a Republican. He wasn't elected to the presidency, but as vice president he stepped in when Nixon resigned because of WaterGate scandal.

He was instrumental forending the Viet Nam War.

Do some research on him.
