Sorry, the G3 Powerbook won't let you run Windows without using Virtual PC. The best operating system for this G3 is probably Mac OS X Jaguar(10.2xx). If you have a "Pismo" with Firewire ports you can run "Panther" MacOS X 10.3x. Installing a new operating system will wipe the hard drive for you.

The thing that will prevent you from installing Windows on such a laptop is that that laptop is running a PowerPC processor not an x86 Intel or AMD processor which is required for running Windows.

the old macs don't have the right kind of processor and the old motherboards don't support EFI
