Because they are mostly too old to care about tomorrow and only want to live for today. For the young Republicans, they are blindly loyal to their party and afraid to speak against the pecking order.

I am an Independent, but since I am also conservative, I will try to explain that side. One most coservatives are older. They also have a more realistic idea of what the world and people are really like. The history of the world will show that nations that would not fight were swallowed by other nations. To have a peaceful disussion both parties have to be peaceful.
After WWI America decided to stay out of the rest of the worlds fights. Isolationist policy was the name for it. Eventually Hitler and his allies became extremely powerful, as when they first started their wars of agression against their neighbors, no one stopped them. They tried to negotiate and appease. He used the time to swallow more small countries and increase his strength. It finally led to WWII. Then everyone wanted to know why we didn't stop him when he first stated and was not so powerful, and had killed so many people. You can still hear British and others today on Yahoo complaining about having to fight Hitler for years before America finally got involved. Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Kuwaitis. Caused a war with Iran that killed Millions and when America stops him, everyone is now saying we are warmongers and should have tried to talk more. Do you suppose he would have listened? How much of the Middle East should we have let him take? The UN sanctions abviously did not work. France was paying under the table behind the UN's back or with thier knowledge. To quote anothers saying I read, "if your going to talk peace to a man with a sword, you either need a sword also, or you had better talk fast".

Well, let's see...exactly what kind of peace are you talking about? The peace that you surround yourself in everyday? Or the peace of innocent people in Iraq getting murdered and tortured by a madman? As long as things are nice and quiet in your neighborhood, I'm sure all is well in the world. Just let everyone live in their nice peaceful worlds...wake up. The rest of the world is not like your quiet little neighborhood. I have enough family in Iraq to know what it's like and what my brother, brother in law, sister, and cousins see and deal with on a daily basis. Peace...you want perfect peace? We won't see it until Jesus returns and rids the world of evil. Sorry.

What's the point in asking a question like this? You're just going to get the "yes, right on" from the choir, and the "you're scum" from your opponent. Maybe if both sides could avoid inflammatory rhetoric, some sort of reasonable discussion about the important issues in this country could take place, rather than a back and forth banter of "you're a stupid head."
