I own a CNG car in California and may soon accept a job on Long Island. I am concerned that it may be too difficult to refuel because there does not seem to be many refueling stations. Thanks for any help.

It don't look good. I did a Yahoo Yellow Page search for CNG based on Long Island. It only gave me a couple with the closest in NJ.

240 Martin L King Jr Blvd #212
Newark, NJ

They listed it at 11.7 miles from the center of the island.

Spend a little time and try a couple of other key words or another search engine might show more but, like I said, it don't look good.

My wife works for the State of California in their fleet administration. She handles some of the CNG vehicle and tells me the range of the vehicle is very limited. Based on that and anything you find out about availability should drive your decision.

One more thing, and I don't know the cost but natural gas compressors are available. Again, depending upon cost, it might be worth buying one of them and refilling the car from your home gas supply.

Good luck in the new job. Personally I don't like California very much but, for me, a move to NY would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
