We are here because we are able to be here. We want to be here because the pleasures of life are, for most, enough to live for. Our existence is not in many ways significant, it is only survival. We exist because we have survived and we have survived because of desire for pleasure. That's my outlook on humans. We're cool like that.

This IS a theological question-stemming from a
belief system such as Secular Humanism, Agnosticism, etc.
You just aren't interested in any response that conflicts with what you ascribe to, inferring that it is both illiterate and unintelligent to hold to a differing view of life's purpose.
Your beliefs, by their system of logic do not supply a reason for existence, yet you ask for answers within that system anyway.
This takes the obviously logical, well ordered systems within our Universe and discounts the Source of them all..
I wonder if you have taken a logical, serious look at the Bible, and the innumerable supporting, non-theological documents from the same time periods into serious consideration for yourself, or have just tired of what others have to say/twist about it.
The Christian Research Institute has great on line resources if you wish to explore for yourself, in context of time, culture, etc. some of the claims and aims the Bible makes.
You come across as being up to the task if you should ever decide to do so. I wish you well in your search for meaning, your question is a good place to start, and I added a prayer of my own.

Survival. Pleasure. To live life to its fullest potential. To meet all of your needs, but not merely to exist, to enjoy your life. To achieve some measure of immortality, to leave a legacy behind (in the form of progeny or to live on through your artistic creations.) To make the most of your time, however long or short it may be. To never succumb (to sadness, illness, destructiveness). Once you give in, give up, you stop living and you are hastening your journey toward death.

If you don't wish to hear theology then I won't bore you with the afterlife. Even if you don't believe that there is one, you can still enjoy a heaven here on earth. It is a beautiful world, we have only to appreciate it. Watch the sun rise. Be struck with wonder at all the marvels of nature. Isn't it worth being on earth to see them?

Live, love, laugh. Love yourself, others & the planet. Life is whatever you make it. Might as well make the best of it. What do you have to lose?

We are here because we are miracles of nature. We are here because we're meant to be here. We are part of nature. We are connected to all things. What a beautiful gift to be alive.

Isn't that enough purpose? Stress less and enjoy more. The more you worry about the meaning of life, the more it eludes you...children know more about life's meaning than we do. They laugh more. They face each new day with excitement. They are constantly learning. They play. They see the world as magical & bursting with possibility...we could learn from them. Never lose your childlike sense of wonder...

We're here to take a test. Life is not a mountain but a series of mountains. Its not an easy ride but on the way we find many great things. Like love, money, victory and all that stuff. Just to let you know i'm not copying someone elses words this is my own words! But anywayz its a test for god to see if we're good enough to be in heaven. Those who suffer shall preserve their lives and the ones whos lives are easy shall perish within time. So we're here to help other also in need. So basically to sum it all up, we're here for god to see if we deserve to be in heaven.

Because we are not any where else, nor can we ever be. This is the last of our own leg of journey in evolution to be enjoyed or wasted by the choices we make.

You are here on earth to partake in establishing meaningful mission... good or bad. Try to read your palms and they are all written there.

May the holiday season inspire us to be grateful even with small blessings we receive and may our hearts desire be granted through prayer. Happy New Year, 2007!!!!!!!
GOD BLESS US ALL @}-----

To be individual... We're the only ones in the entire infinite universe... I mean the whole entire universe are just fire balls, dust, rocks, etc etc... Isn't that fun? Only the Earth is so colourful, full of air and water..
