The thought of blood brings negative thoughts as sometimes so does rain. It is said that one can not love with out pain which is why they say love and pain are the same since you can not have love without being or experiencing pain. You experience pain because your in love, being in love allows you to feel pain. Blood or the loss of it can put a stop to things much like rain can put a stop to things so thats why they are said to be one in the same. They all share similarities.

Considering that blood and rain are not one and the same, it seem to be saying that love and pain are not one and the same, but I think that it really trying to say that love comes with pain or at least heart break

It means that love is synonymous with pain or pain complements pain or vice versa..
