Although he is one of the most electrifying players in the NFL, he will never win a Super Bowl (mainly because he is a running Quarterback).

First, tell me how many scrambling QB's that have won a championship. Now tell me how many Pocket Passers that have won a championship. Better yet, name the last ten Super Bowl winning Quarterbacks and whether they were running Quarterbacks or pocket passers/game managers.

He is also one of the most sacked Quarterbacks and ruined Peerless Price's career.

Finally, he seems to have an excuse every year on why he has not been productive. First few years were a new coach, then a new system. Then, it became the Wide Receivers. The excuse even came down to his race (if you read Yahoo! sports article a week ago)! And we all know race has nothing to do with how you play football...

... So can somebody please tell me why the Falcons are still starting Vick? He is way too inconsistent to be an NFL starter.

Steve Young was a scrambling quarterback and he did well for himself. I think even John Elway and Brett Favre did some running as well.

Michael Vick is being noticed because he is black. Bad teams have bad players and sometimes bad coaches. That's nothing new.

I do think Vick was being told to run, while Marc Brunell (a white scrambling quarterback) was told not to run when he was with the Jaguars. He might not have the receivers, the line or the running backs to help him out. The Lions had horrid receivers for years and that's basically why Barry Sanders was given the ball most of the time.

Same reason that the Eagles think that Donvan McNabb is a Saint or something like that. Oh SURE last year was ALL T.O.'s fault. Had nothing to do with a QB that was playing HURT, who had a SPORTS HERNIA from the start of the season and who didn't get surgery until T.O. was kicked off the team(basically) so that he wouldn't look like he was contributing to the problem. See teams have these Franchise QBs basically. They pay the guy an outrageous some of money and the player can therefore do no wrong. Ok yes McNabb is better then Vick. Garcia is better then Vick. Culpepper could give Vick a run for his money if he hadn't got hurt last year. Oh and I mean the OVERRATED Culpepper who didn't have Moss. About the only QB in the NFL that proably couldn't challenge Vick is Aaron Brooks. I mean come on if Carr isn't sitting on his *** all the time he might be good. Back to Vick though. He is overpaid and they are trying to recover their investment. Rather then bench him and try to GET GOOD, they play him and hope he WILL get good. He played great against the Steelers this year. They contained his running mostly and he became a pocket passer and had a great game. That shows he COULD do it if he WOULD practice it and work on it. I guess that isn't what the Falcons want though.

I would like to say that I agree with you about Mike Vick...he is not your typical QB....but he may be ahead of his time. I can think of a few great QBs that were labeled scrambling QBs at the same stage of their career Vick is in....Steve Young, Donavon McNabb, and John Elway to name a few. Now I know what you are thinking...they all became solid passers or always were to go with the mobility...this is true. Also to answer the other part of your question I will go down nameing and chategorizing the winning and losing QBs of the last 10 super bowls....

XL- Roethlisberger- Game manager
Hasselbeck- Game manager
XXXIX- Brady-Pocket passer
McNabb-Combo....can be both a scrambler and a pocket passer
XXXVIII- Brady-pocket passer
Delhomme- Game manager
XXXVII- B. Johnson-Game manager
Gannon- mobile Pocket passer
XXXVI- Brady-Pocket passer
Warner-Pocket passer(gunslinger)
XXXV- Dilfer-Game manager
Collins-Pocket passer
XXXIV- Warner-Pocket passer(gunslinger)
McNair- Combo...could be a passer and scramble
XXXIII- Elway-Combo...could be a passer or scramble
Chandler-Pocket passer
XXXII- Elway-Combo...could be a passer or scramble
Farve-Combo...could be a passer or scramble
XXXI- Farve-Combo...could be a passer or scramble
Bledsoe-Pocket passer

so looking at this we have
Scramblers- 0
Pocket passers- 9
Game managers- 5
Combos- 6

I think you are right that scrambling QBs are not the answer to a teams problems on offense and that it may be time to give the best back-up QB in the NFL (Matt Schaub) a shot. I think Schaub could be the starter for about 85-90% of the other teams in the NFL. Just my thoughts though

It might be too late in Vick's career to "fix him", but I blame Jim Mora and staff for his troubles. When you have a stud QB, with what is likelt the best arm in the game, why would you choose to run run run? There is no need to ever have a running back on the field. Get some talentd recievers and run a spread option. 5 recievers to spread out the defense. They will still have to respect the run because Vick is the best runner in the NFL, but you can't afford to spy him or run the outside blitzes to contain him. Mora and his staff are handling the team wrong for the players they have available.

Ummmm. Schaub is not better than Vick. Im no fan of Mike Vick, i think he's overated, but he is best QB Atlanta has, so who the hell else is going to play. And i agree, he is inconsistent and you know what, he has had enough years o get it.. it didnt take Mcnabb this long for the light to go on, it didnt take Mcnair this long either, or Culpepper or Favre, or Marc Brunnell, or Roger staubach, or Terkenton, or Randel Cunningham, or Elway, or any other QB who thought to run at the first hint of trouble... by this point in their careers, those guys i named had all begun to become VERY consistent QBs... what the hell is taking Vick so long?!! i mean, i dunno what you can do with him, but honestly, i dont think Atlanta is ever winning a title with him at QB.

Mike Vick give you a chance to win, It's not his fault of the receivers that cant catch the ball. With Vick and and him with the ball you still have a chance. Yes no one has one yet with a scrambling QB but hey those 95 Nebraska Corn husker's did pretty good. I know it's college.

Because Vick is better than Schaub. And the WR's have been terrible this year if you've seen any of the highlights. I will admit the other excuses have been lame but that one is legitimate. It's too fun to watch Vick when he's on his game and he sells tickets.

To answer your question simply, Vick is a good QB. He has his streaks. I think he'll play better next season.
