To answer the first responders question, it was Law and Order Trial by Jury; this one only had a few episodes and was dropped. Ocasionally, they will play it on Court TV.
SVU is way better. I love Mariska Hargitay (did you know that Jane Mansfield was her mom in real life?), she is a great actress. The story line is more suspenseful than CI b/c they do not show scenes from the perpetrater's point of view like CI. I didn't know there were people out there that liked SVU as much as I do.

Losing Lenny Brisco changed the original series - although Sam Waterson is great.
My favorite has been "CI" for a while, but I hate the changes they've made this season. Taking out Jamey Sheridan and Courtney Vance (the capt and the DA) and the prosecuting attorney and change things. I don't like the new captain - he's too brusk. And, while I've accepted Chris Noth - I like his original partner - the fiesty Hispanic woman - better than his new one.
Too many changes may be the end of it, I'm afraid.
SVU is a great series - they haven't played musical characters, which is a good thing. The only problem is some of the episodes get a little too dark for me. Yes, I know that it's about "sex crimes" - but it's a personal opinion..

Each franchise is unique. It's good to still see some long-time familiar faces on the three. But, sadly, there has been a high turnover in the cast of all L&Os in the past two or three years. Also, L&O: Trial By Jury was given the axe. To me, that was a mistake.
What concerns me is that Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe (in CI) may or may not remain regular fixtures. Personally, I want them to stay.

SVU is my favorite...although if they ever change the cast, it won't be the same - at least with Olivia and Elliot, if they ever leave I probably won't watch anymore :) I also really liked Trial By Jury - I don't think they gave it a chance to find an audience, it was def. better than Conviction.

I am a huge CI fan...Eames is my favorite character in the L&O universe. SVU's pretty good too.
