I'm trying to order DSL service, but when earthlink or verizon ship the DSL modem, most of the time the delivery guy can't get in the apartment cuz the main entrance door is always locked.

What can I do about this?

UPS requires a Phone # To call you, if there isn't a phone # then they will send you a postcard. The USPS will leave you a notice in your mail box at your appertment for redelivery or for you to pick up at the post office. Fedx may attach a note to the door/gate. Call the company that is sending or sent the modem and tell them the situation.

If your apartment has a manager, tell them to deliver the package
to the manager's office.

If there is no manager, talk to your neighbor and see if they can accept the package for you.

Arrange to have the package deliver to your office or friend's place.

The last option is to pick it up yourself. They open on Saturdays.

You can call UPS customer service department & tell them so that you can instruct them to leave it at the manager's office or at the UPS location to pick it up.

Can you have it delivered at work? I have stuff delivered there sometimes -- it is a small company, and there is always someone there during business hours.
