Lowering the drinking age may be called immature by some, but what is fair? Isnt the age to be drafted into the military 18?
And no, I'm not under 18.

You may get a high percentile from voters aged 18-20, but beyond that I doubt a grassroots movement would get a whole lot of support. The drinking age in a lot of places was 18 years old. Statistics have shown that raising the drinking age to 21 have lowered incidents of alcohol related problems. You'd have a difficult time getting a high enough percentage of voters to believe otherwise. Most voters have been 18 years old and have been 21 years old. They know they were better equipped to handle the responsibility of whether to drink or not at 21 than they were at 18.

Less than 2%. About equal to the number of voting 18-21 year olds.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure the vote to raise the voting age would get more support, sorry.
Henk: I can nearly guarantee that I can make a drinking under age charge disappear for an 18 year old that joins the military. Assuming no other record, of course.

you're able to get a extreme percentile from voters elderly 18-20, yet previous that I doubt a grassroots bypass might get distinctive help. The ingesting age in distinctive places replace into 18 years previous. information have shown that raising the ingesting age to 21 have decreased incidents of alcohol suitable matters. you have a puzzling time getting a extreme sufficient share of voters to have self assurance in any different case. optimum voters have been 18 years previous and characteristic been 21 years previous. They comprehend they have been extra suitable effective geared as much as take care of the job of no count number if to drink or now no longer at 21 than they have been at 18.

So called adults at 21 are not responsible enough to be drinking, the drinking age should be increased to 27

The few states that actually went to a 18 year old drinking age paid a high price for it. The amount of alcohol related car accidents, and resulting injuries/deaths sky rocketed. It's unfortunate, but the certain % of those who are not mature enough to handle the privelge ruin it for the rest of the 18-20 year olds who are.

In response...you're right if you can be drafted or serve for your country you should be able to have a drink at the same age to. That is why you can drink at that age. If you serve in the military and are under 21, while you are on a base or military grounds you are allowed to drink, so problem solved...what's the next issue of dire importance we need to settle???

only 51.6% of people eligible between the ages of 18 to 29 vote , and only three years of people are affected 18,19,20 so threes no way at all that it would happen you'd have only 3 years of voters ages 18,19,20 voting for and the rest, with a SMALL exception , most people either don't give a crap or are dead set against it hell there trying to raise the driving age to 18!!!

only those people who are 18, and dont have nothing better to do. i dont think that a large percentage of the population is going to agree on that. if anything it should be higher than 21. when people are in their 20's they are starting to learn what life is. maybe late 20's is a good age

No!
The only reason drinking ages are 21, and speed limits used to be 55, was the Federal Government threatened to cut off highway funds and tied them to both issues!
Since that is still a recourse, you aren't going to see anyone increase drinking ages.
I am sick of popular referendums! That is how California got into the mess they are in and it circumvents our representative government. Our founding fathers were wary of majority rule and that is why we are a Representative Republic, not a Democracy!
