I don't hate people in general, but sometimes I can do without some stuff. I saw this goth guy in Wal Mart today with black tears all over his face. I know that he is trying to be different .. I dunno I think our personalities make us different. But at the same time there is a difference between wanting to be different and wanting to stand out. You can be a hippie a goth or an emo, what determines whether I like you or not is your personality and the way you talk to me and others. Good question.

How can goths be the new generation of hippies? Hippies were originally a counter-culture movement centered around freedom, peace, and consciousness, whether it was political, spiritual, or drug related. Their aims were change, freedom, and self-knowledge.
Goths are a slowly-becoming-mainstream counterculture, whose aims are not widely broadcast as political, instead focusing more on art, culture, and knowledge of both the dark and light sides of the world.
If you were looking for an accurate group to compare to hippies in terms of lifestyle, clothing choices, and cultural change, I'd suggest you direct your attention to the punk movement.
Oh, and by the way? Being a hippie isn't something you qualify for simply by wearing a headband, bellbottoms, and trying to talk like Bob Dylan. There are few true hippies left these days.

I do not hate anyone, and I never let things like that stop me from getting to know someone. I've been pleasantly surprised before, and have made some wonderful friends ( who are more intelligent and loyal than most of my "normal" friends) by looking past the exterior. Just because they're different on the outside, doesn't mean a thing. It's that old saying - the inside is what counts.

I hate hippies for the reason that they tried to say that they were the love generation, well were was the love for the soldiers coming home from vietnam? They were nasty, dirty creatures who used a war to get high, screw anything in sight and pretend that they cared. During vietnam you didn't see anyone cheering for the coming home. They were spat on and called baby killer from the "flower children".

I used to hang out with hippies all the time. They are some cool people. They were for peace ( I say were, because they aren't around anymore. They are all in their 50's and 60's.) I don't hate groups of people, because that would be shallow. I hate individuals I meet that are assholes.

I don't like the people that can't think for themselves and feel like they have to dress a certain way, listen to a certain music, and get a certain hair cut to fit in.
