My vote would be for Taylor. Oh and there are a few people that FAVORED his comments. A few that agree that Merriman DOESN'T deserve the award. Don't say well look how great he played. Fine look how good he is doing according to you. Don't let me hear you say a thing about Bonds being SUSPECTED of cheating. NO PROOF and people are against him. Merriman there is PROOF he used performance enhancing drugs. He doesn't deserve awards this year. We should say look you fail a drug test you aren't allowed to get awards that year. Don't give me well he came back and tried hard. He also "appealed" until the day after the game so he could SERVE HIS SENTENCE WHEN HE WANTED. He didn't want to wait another game for his appeal because he didn't want to miss certain games. Let's put this all up for grabs and put it where it belongs.

I believe Jason Taylor or Champ Bailey. Jason is the one that everyone has been paying attention to because of his sacks, but Champ has been quietly racking up INT's and shutting down that side of the field for the Broncos.
I give the nod to Taylor because of his leadership off the field, most notably the comments he made regarding Merriman's suspension for steroids. More players should speak out and let people know that cheating is not acceptable.

How someone takes a Performance ENHANCING drug (supplement my A*S!!), gets Caught, and then turns around and wins a Defensive player of the year award speaks to the sad sad SAD state of affairs in terms of Social Responsibility in this country... the guy cheated..

Its like a Marathon runner doing incredible things , breaking all kinds of time records and winning a marathon, and afterwards tests positive for a drug that enchances performance. and the people in charge still giving him the win and saying how amazing the things he did were, even though everyone knows he only did those amazing things with illegal chemical assistance LMAO, BOGGLES the mind.

Jason taylor said what he said because he was pissed off about a guy that cheated beating him for an award he should get and so it sounded like sour grapes...but that doesnt make what taylor said any less true.. Merriman is no better than Mark Mcgwire.... I think Taylor should get it.

I'd say Champ Bailey or Jason Taylor. Merriman should be disqualified even for consideration because of his steroid use. My vote would be for Bailey....9 INTs, great tackler, he's kept some of the best WRs in the league in check this year.

I think it will be Shawn Merriman of the San Diego Charger.....but that is not who I think deserves it...I think Champ Baily of the Denver Broncos is a more fitting recipient. I think Merriman had a great season and is a leader of and cornerstone to one of the best teams in football right now. However, his suspension this season for "performance enhancing drugs" takes away from the season he had. Baily is one of the leaders on a team that relies on him play after play week after week to shut down the other teams top receiver. I still don't see why people throw the ball to his side of the field.

Merriman. I need not say anything, his playing speaks for itself.

And to the first guy ---that's ironic, because every player I've heard and most commentators say it was not his place to make comments about another player in that way, even saying that it was over-the-line.

And like Merriman said, he admitted his wrong, lost some money and play time, served a suspension, and came back and played his *** off (even doing better per-game than before he was out)

Honestly, Merriman deserves the award 16 sacks in 11 games is a worthy accomplishment. However, their might be some backlash related to Merriman being suspended this season for steroids.

i'll a hundred% ought to pass with D-Ware #ninety 4 of the dallas cowboys, he's in simple terms one in each and every of those monster exterior linebacker. i'll assert, joey porter is good, yet D-ware is the sack chief of the nfl and averages atleat one sack in line with interest.
