The Harry Potter books are one of my favorite books. Once you anylze the book you relize there are many messages that JK Rowling had put into her books.
The other reason I like them so much is because the first book was what got me to love reading. My 2nd grade teacher read the 1st book to us in class. Before that I hated reading with a passion! The reason I hated reading was because I hadn't found any books that I liked or was interested in. The Harry Potter books changed the view of mine and now I read every chance I get!

I think like so many others that they make for a pretty darn good series. Even the movie producers agree. America is in love with Harry Potter!

I don't know why so many people so obsessed with the Harry Potter series... In my opinion, The Chronicles of Narnia is way much better... There's too much of wizardry and witchcraft in Harry Potter. By hte way, if you read Narnia, they contain really good moral values... Another suggestion is The Lord of The Rings...

What stay for me after I forget the plots which are sometimes too many and going in fact a little bit in all directions, is the impression of a words' jangler...
As I answer someone about if J.K.Rowlings could be a witch:
by the way she twists and bewitches the words, she certainly is.
She never pretended to be an historian and that should never be forgot.
As for giving bad ideas to children, I don't remember many books of my childhood which wasn't like that...
Even saintly Pollyanna fall from a tree when it is needed by the plot!
Think about Tom Sawyer and all the others...
So! I really enjoy it and have often a good laugh and the grow-ups who give up after the 4° book would be amazed of the 5° and 6°...
If anything it gives a quite dark view on the mismanagement of power...
And I think that all her books are also very important as they are realistically speaking of bullying, how you feel when it happens and how you plot to revenge yourself...
As well as about the lows and heights of children' friendships...
So, yes I like them books and am thankful to my godchild of ten who tempted me into reading them...

Harry Potter books are awful. The characters are undeveloped in the first couple of books so there isn't any basis for why they act the way they do. Except for Voldemort, all the evil characters in the books come in when they are needed and disappear never to be seen in the stories again. Rowling has a huge benefit in creating the wizard world, she can suddenly decide there are ghosts, trolls, dragons, or giant spiders at any point in order to advance her constantly faltering plot. Yuck.

i think the harry potter books are great. i can read them over and over again. in fact, the first time i read one was in college. our professor had just read the book with her children or something. we read it to compare a book written by a woman about a little boy in a magical world with a book (alice in wonderland) written by a man about a little girl in a magical world. if you like literature and digging into the story there are actually a lot of things to pick up on. or you can read them just because they are good stories.

I love them. My friends and I even have a club called "Order of the Pheonix" where we talk about HP all the time.

I don't understand why people say they promote witchcraft because they don't. Yeah there is magic but one of the main things is "Love conquers all" or almost all in the book.

Its great that so many people can talk about HP. I've met TONS of friends that way and I believe J.K is inspiring many new writers. She has a wonderful imagination!

I think they are amazing, but not only for the words between them (which are excellent). But the fact that people across the world can relate and talk to each other about a series is truely amazing! And anything that makes children read is automatically good.
