Neither are all that painful. I'd say cartilage more so than lobe if I had to choose. Don't worry. It's only a second and I promise it really doesn't hurt a whole lot. If you want to cheat take two advil before you go to get it done.

I'm not a whimp when it comes to pain. I have three tattoos which I enjoyed the experience of getting. I had 17 piercings including the region below the belt and didn't think any of them really hurt that bad. I was also in 7 hours of labor with my son and never asked for drugs. I can handle pain. However, I got an industrial piercing which is in the cartilage and that thing hurt like hell. I almost didn't let her do the second hole. That is the only cartilage piercing I've ever gotten and I have no plans for any more. No way. Earlobe piercings are nothing.

I would think a cartilage piercing would hurt more. Ask the people who are going to do the piercing.

I have both...to tell you the truth. Earlobe hurt more. Cartilage was easier to take care of as well.

Cartilage by far. If your having cartilage pierced go to a piercing shop. Don't go to the mall and have it done with the gun. Ouchy! I am speaking from experience.

both are minor discomfort, the nipple is the worst piercing. do not pierce your cartilage with a gun at the mall, go to a body piercing shop and have it done with a needle. the gun will bruise the cartilage and make it hurt worse.

i've heard that cartilage is one of the most painful peircing. i've even heard it was worse than a toungue piercing! ... i dont no if thats true, but i know cartilage is worse than earlobe for sure. it gets extremely sore for weeks after piercing it. BUT hey! ... good luck if you get it. :]
