Sorry, but I think the Zune doesn't work with Macs, at all. Not even if you have XP installed on it somehow. But the Zune is still great! At least try it at some electronics retailer. You might like it, and find some PC to manage your Zune.

You are smart enough to get an ibook...yet you are thinking about a Zune?

From the Zune site ---no

Zune™ software is compatible with the following operating systems:

Windows® XP Home, Professional, and Tablet PC Edition Service Pack 2
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2
Windows Vista
Zune currently supports only the English North America versions of the above operating systems. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is not supported.

Windows XP SP 2
If your computer is running Windows XP, it must have Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed. Click here for information about Windows XP SP2.

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2
If your computer is running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, it must have Update Rollup 2 installed. Click here for information about Update Rollup 2.

Earlier versions of Windows XP Media Center Edition are not compatible with the Zune software. If you have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 or 2004, check with your Media Center PC manufacturer for upgrade information.

Windows Vista
Windows Vista is supported. Click here for information about Windows Vista.

Don't waste your money on a zune, just get the I-pod, because even the best feature on the Zune is not that great.

I would assume yes. I would also assume that the Zune works only with windows media player (I got my mac a proper iPod). So... get yourself windows media player for mac, and you got yourself all you need.
