Can anyone help us out. We are 15 people having around 15 luggages. We will be reaching mumbai in the morning and will need a place to keep our luggage for a day. Is there a cloak room facility around. Will it be necessary to have a train ticket to use the railway cloak room facility.

As told in the previous answer you will find Cloak Room in all major railway stations. You may enquire in the Railway Enquiry counters.

Main requirement to clock your luggage

1. You should have travelled or you should be travelling (proof by ticket)
2. Ensure all your luggages have proper locks otherwise they do not accept
3. Ensure you have place to write on your luggage and ask the counter helper to write such a way that you can erase that with wet wipper other wise they make shabby
4. Do not keep any valuables (obviously that is Mumbai)
5. Do not keep any eatables as lots of Rats and Cockroachs roam in the clock room
6. Keep soft luggages like cloth bags on upper stand rather keeping on floor to protect from above creatures

Best of luck !..

You will get the cloak room at Mumbai CST station(VT) & Mumbai Central station.

in Mumbai VT (CST) it is located at the corner of the Platform No 13 on the main line terminus. Foreign tourists have to show their passports for verification and the place is quite safe and secure. It is closed for a small break of half an hour each at three times during the day so be careful of the closing times and do not lose your receipt for claiming your luggage!!!

some stations also have "Safe deposit lockers" but I am not sure about mumbai.

# Passengers are requested to deposit locked luggage. Eatables, Hazardous goods, Livestock, commercial goods, vehicles are not allowed.

There is contradicted information available on Internet about weather you need a railway ticket or not.
Last time I used the cloak room in Delhi was 4 years ago, when I was told to show railway ticket.

You can also use some railway forums such as www.railwaydiscussion.com to get more info.
