They want a foreign man...not necessarilly an American one. Many of them know English, so a choice of an english-speaking American make sense.

Edit - Greanwitch - To make a long story short, no, you can't. Try it. Nobody will put up with you. Many men here married less than ideal American women because they thought they didn't have a choice. Men are wising up to the fact that they do have a choice, and are exercising it. To the unmarried American women out there: This is where feminism has lead you. Wise up or expect not to find a husband. You have been served notice.

Funny, a friend and I were just talking about this. It seems that many foreign women really do want American men. Perhaps it's not really the man she wants, but what he represents to her: freedom and the American dream (yes, it's still alive). Someone I know just traveled to a foreign country and was hanging out with some of the women there. He said they all seemed to know a lot about the US immigration laws, like how much it costs to get into the country. He added that it kind of freaked him out because he could picture himself being used by one of these women just so she could become a US citizen. Once that is accomplished, the woman would simply move on.

That said, I'm sure there are plenty of cases where foreign women fall in love with American men because of who they are. They probably even stayed in the womens' native countries. My point is, just be aware of these types of situations. I think any person who is a decent judge of character would know.

A nearly fourfold increase in foreign women entering the U.S. on fiance(e) visas (over the last 7 years) supports this contention.

At the same time the marriage rate in the general population in the US has been steadily dropping for quite some time. The most recent census showed it at it's lowest rate ever.

The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act, designed specifically to stop this from occurring also supports this contention. If it is not true, why try to criminalise it?

It's well known amongst expat communities around the world that American feminist women are shunned by men outside of U.S.A.

On the contrary, decent and well-off American men are generally viewed as the "cream of the crop" - highly coveted and desirable.... These gentlemen enjoy a great reputation among foreign ladies who perceive them to be respectful, nurturing, responsible, well-educated and financially secure. In addition, these women believe that American men make great husbands, especially in contrast to native men, who are often disrespectful, abusive and unfaithful.

Statistics indicate a 50% divorce rate between American men and women whereas there is a 10% or lower divorce rate between American men and foreign brides.

Absolutely! Millions of women a year marry with American guys. I was a soldier in s. korea for 4 years. I had so many girls interested in me it was like picking apples off the tree. I married one also. for 19 years it was good until the last 2. So many military guys marry the native women of the country they live in. Also, look online. there are hundreds of international dating websites catering to American guys and the girls from every country on earth. I am sure many marry through this.Now that I am divorced to the Korean girl, I went online and met girls in china. soon, I will go there to meet the girl and live there for a while. I think nowadays, with the internet bridging the distance, and cultures you will see more of the international marriages.

I think foreign women want American men because they are generally richer than the women. except in cases of England and other parts othe world where they use euros.

I think it is mostly so they can get into the USA. The standard of living here is higher, they know they wouldn't have to worry about being fed, and the freedom they would have here. I know of a few and after the children are grown, so are they. Many indian men are trying to enter the USA now the same way, except of course they are after the american women.

Guess what? We American women can play the same game....those of us, middle aged and beyond, financially independent can go abroad and "buy" that gorgeous 18 to 20 something young man just like men do. (I've been there and they will line up for us!) If we want to play that immature game. Men who think women should be any or all of: young, slim, beautiful, less intelligent than he, subservient, can go elsewhere in the world to get a women they think fits this stereotype. But guess what happens when they bring them home to North America? The women realize what it is like to be a complete and real person and start demanding the same equal rights. divorce divorce unless you grow up boys and stop being such bullies (Or by the way, even in the 3rd world, many middle aged women grow up and realize their equality and will get you secretly! we (I) prefer American men because they don't have that
"macho" attitude, they're more caring, understanding, respectful, and aren't afraid to show their softer side.
