Not sure about your statistic, there, pal. But I think we're (women) socialized to have as our ultimate goal, the attainment of a "perfect" man who will fall head over heels in love with us because we have done everything in our power to be as sexually attractive as possible. So we focus almost exclusively on making ourselves into some sort of powerful attractor to men, never really looking responsibly at our capabilities and our skills. We throw away and/or dismiss what we have inside in order to cultivate what we have on the outside. And then, lo and behold, we get older and no amount of effort can change that. So mens' attention inevitably will wane and/or wander and then we get all pissed. After all I have done to make you happy, after all of the posturing and charading I've done all of these years to pretend to "be" the plastic image that I think you (the hypothetical man) want me to be.....you have the nerve to look away!! Suddenly I find that I am fed up and tired of trying. It was ok when it came naturally. Now I have to work at it and on top of that I have children I am raising who seem hell-bent on sucking all of the life forces out of me. Suddenly I find that I feel angry and irritable and I am mad at my man for trying to force me into a tiny category and I am unwilling any longer to try and be something I'm not. I'd be willing to bet that the same dynamic plays out for men, too, but instead of it being all around sexual attractiveness it is more about financial attractiveness. Bottom line - we expect way too much of each other and we can only expect to find our happiness from within. No one else can do it for us and we have no right to hate others for not being able to do it for us.

Women initiate divorces more often than men because the process is long, involved and requires asking for and following a great many directions!

Because they are spoiled. If the divorce actually involved 'fault', it would not be a 'no fault' divorce, which is what 70% of divorces are.

You definitely need to check out this board:

At least have a look through the general section and read the original dontmarry essay.

Well I'm not trying to be rude but far more men cheat than women from what I've seen and most of the time when that woman has been scorned watch out because it's on like a pot of neck bones.

This sounds like a rhetorical question, but maybe women are initiating the divorces because the man abuses them or cheats on them. Did you ever think of it that way?

Well,,, aparently you are already talking to a statistically high ammount of people that are already unhappy with a man! Women also are extreamly verbal when upset,,, this is how they get rid of those feelings. So,, you "are" going to get a lot of negative comments when talking to women who are upset at men & you ask a question such as this. Sorry,,, go ask the guys something about football or something. :)

That's an interesting little statistic you're using... where did you get it?

If it's true, I'd say perhaps men are less willing to change the status quo, even when things aren't great.

Sack up, Roland! You didn't see that coming? Now quit whining about it and finish up with your girlfriend so you can get home to your wife; it's getting late.
