The MacBook only comes in a 13 inch. The highest priced one comes with a 2.0GHz processor.
The least expensive MacBook Pro comes in a 15" and has a faster processor (2.1GHz) and is $500 more, so you can look at it like this...starting from the lowest priced MacBook to the highest priced MacBook Pro, each one is a step better as you go up in price.
BTW, the MacBook is plastic, The MacBook Pro is aluminum.
Whatever you decide on, make sure you check them out and ask the Apple people to give you information. They are really knowledgeable and helpful. Good luck

I answered a question similar to this a few hours ago:
When it was in my head that I might have had the possibility to get one, I originally thought that the 13-inch screen of the Macbook would be horrible. However, after seeing it in action, it seems that's a fine screen size, though if you are interested in watching movies on a big screen or have bad eyes, you might be more inclined to try for the Macbook Pro.
The performance gap between the two isn't that great, and I believe that you can get it customized to close the gap.
I've also heard something about the shell of the White Macbook turning yellow on some models. I've never seen this, and I think the problem might have been rectified, but that's something else to think about.
One plus for the MacBook Pro is that it has the lit keys that automatically sense darkness. That way, you can see the keys if you are typing in the dark.
Speaking of the keyboard, the keyboard in the MacBook is built somewhat oddly to keep its small shape. The keys go straight down. If you look at a normal keyboard from the top, the keys fan out a little at the sides, but the MacBook does away with that. It is in the MacBook Pro. It's not really that different, but its something to think about.
Just make sure you get a warranty. That goes for any laptop that you get. Apple's is a bit pricey, but it will probably be worth it.
Hope this helps you in your decision!

You can also go through Apple's website. They list a lot of the differences, and it is very, very well written.

The difference is the hardware. Look at the specs and you'll discover what I mean. If you don't need the super model,go with the basic one.

Get something better, like a machine with Linux, one that has a tweakable BIOS and an accessible CMOS.
