I think it's nice that women have grown a backbone throughout the years.

I'd like to know where that stat came from. If it's true I can only speculate as to why women would file more often.

Like someone else said, my best guess is that fathers are less likely to gain full custody. Tho that is changing. I actually see that as something good about men. I've been talking to a lot of younger fathers lately. Many who are very involved with their children. Some who are very unhappy in their marriages. They are staying with their wives because they love their children so much and can't bear the thought of being weekend daddys. I guess I find that a good sign. That perhaps fathers are finally growing up from the days when I was a kid, when fathers just left and did their own thing.

I think that means that men in general are becoming more feeling creatures. I know many of them that are single parents staying home raising their children.

So I don't know. That would mean it's fear then. Fear of losing their children. If that's it then I find it sad and wrong too. They shouldn't have to stay in a marriage to have the same chance to be a full time parent if that's what they want.

Your number is a bit high, but it is true that the majority of divorces in the US are initiated by women.

Several factors--In studies on this, women say they thought marriage and courtship were alike. Men seem to feel that when they're married they can be themselves (i.e., different than they were in courtship) because they have succeeded in the "battle."

In about 1/4 of divorces, men had no clue that there was a problem until their wives filed.

Women are more willing to take the risk to leave an unsatisfactory marriage; they tend to have more of an emotional support network, and feel better equipped to handle post-divorce trauma.

Another factor is that there is no fear of losing custody of the children after the divorce, as they courts tend to grant custodial rights to the mother.

Because women need to constantly be reassured in one way or another - either physical actions of love,, dinner, movies, dancing something to say I'm still interested in you or -- verbally say it!
Maybe men are stronger but women don't like to carry baggage. If it gets to heavy & he wont step up or "tell you" how you should, could, something,,,, you tend to decide if the bagage is going to kill you or make you wish you were dead,,, it is not worth it's wieght to carry on your back. Women take action,,, men sit & stew over it all. Apparently much to late much to often.

That being said I am not a heartless man eating women. I have been married for almost nine years now. However I have 3 older sisters & have seen a fair share of problems & keep my eyes open to both sides of the fence. I call 'em as I see em.

Because they want something different then what they have, often feeling they can do better, but studies show that 10 to 15 years into there 2nd or 3rd marriage, they regret there choices and would elect to be with there 1st husband again. Strange isn't it.

Because the men are reluctant to initiate the divorce because it usually involves child support, and they had to admit they failed at something.

Because most Men are much to selfish,They care about themselves first, and their wife last. Most Men will step outside of their marriage, for no other reason than to satisfy their selfish wants and desires, but they are to selfish to give up anything of their marriage so they can have their cake and eat it to.Most Women on the other hand are the opposite , they put their hubby's and family first and care about themselves last,en till the wife can longer bear the selfish way's of her hubby.

ususally it's due to cheating and betrayal when someone wants a divorce, in my case he wanted the divorce i did not, but knowing there was no chance to reconcile, or change his mind, i felt it best to get out of what was hurting me asap, and move on due to the pain involved. i did not want to give up on him, told him so, but by the time i found out about her the decision was already made and i had no options left.
