I have a PSP-1001(USA), and i need a update to 3.00 in order to do something - Not play a UMD.

There is only one latest update and it's not 3.00 it's 2.82 located on the Official PlayStation Website. Download in the following link below.

3.03 is out. If you have wireless Internet access, go to settings on the main menu. From there go to "network update". That will bring you online and automatically check for the latest update. Then it will bring you through downloading the update, etc.
If you can't go online through your PSP, check the Sony website and find the PSP section. There will be something there to help you.
