Ford became vice president because Spiro Agnew who was the elected vice president was being investigated for some kind of financial reason. Then Nixon resigned and Ford became president without even being elected to the vice presidential position.

Yes though Nixon resigned & never impeached. Ford became vice-president after Agnew resigned. He was not voted into either
office. He was voted into Congress for 25 years.
He came very close to beating Carter and keeping the Office of President, but people who were upset about his pardon of Nixon at that time probably realize now how important it was to move on after Watergate.

Ford became President after Nixon resigned.
Nixon resigned due to the fact that an impeachment was imminent.
Ford is the only person that became President without being elected. His Vice-Presidency was by appointment not election.

>>>Gerald Ford's Presidency came about due to Nixon's pending impeachment>>>
No, it didn't. It came about due to Nixon's resignation.
The vice president doesn't become president when the president is impeached. If that were true, Gore would have become president when Clinton was impeached.

It wasn't Nixon's impending impeachment...It was Nixon's resignation. Ford assumed the vice-presidency after Agnew had to resign earlier (due to a different scandal). Ford just happened to be the right guy at the wrong time.

Yes. Ford is the one President who was never elected. He became President when Nixon vacated, and never won his bid for election in '76.
