I read in a relationship counselling book (that someone gave me when my boyfriend and I moved in together) that "infatuation" cannot withstand a long period of time, even though it does appear in all relationships, even healthy, loving ones. The "infatuation" period can last up to 2 years, and after that, if you still have feelings, they may not be the same butterflies-and-rainbows feelings from before but they will be deeper and more serious. If after two or more years you still feel deeply, romantically in love with someone, it's safe to assume it's the real thing. However, the feeling could fade, and that would be the time to move on. The problem is that too many people make a commitment within a few months, before they have withstood the test of time. For the lucky ones, it works out, for the unlucky...well, they're part of the divorce statistic.

Infatuation is a few weeks of dating and a quick goodbye...
love is someone who stands beside you in your corner always there for you to love support comfort and care...for better or worse...wanting nothing but your happiness and wanting the best that life has to offer you...Someone who can share your highest moments and your lowest lows.

True love is enduring, infatuation is not.
True love is willing to wait, infatuation has to have it right away.
True love is respectful and respectable, infatuation only pretends to be.
