It becomes 2007 first at the time zone just east of the international date line in the pacific ocean. The new year travels east from there going all around the world across Australia, Asia, Europe, then America, and finally ends when it reaches the international date line again.

Depends how you look at it.
Universal time is GMT or UCT as the americans call it. So if u wanna live by that fact then Greenwich, England and anywhere in that time zone is the place that experiences new year, alson with the rest of the world at that instant.
What people forget is that we could all live by day and night with no time. Time is just there to keep track of things, time zones make it seemingly more sociable. If we all lived by UCT, it would be dark when waking up and dark when going to bed for some....but people would switch just to live by different timings.
Realistically speaking, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the far east of russia are among the first. I am guessing hawaii are probably the last.
I also once read an article about how some people who live close to the date line, catch a flight over it to celebrate new years twice. A bit extreme if u ask me!

Do a search for "world time zones" or "time zones." I'm pretty sure Australia or Japan are the farthest east and therefore hit New Years first.
