Republicans are trying to spin that last election by saying that a lot of the elected Democrats (you know, the ones that kicked the Reps out) are actually conservatives. One jackass here even went so far as to spread the lie that some of these Dems are MORE conservative than the Reps they replaced.

If that was the case, they wouldn't be Democrats. And being antiabortion doesn't make one a Republican.

Democrats will always stand for the vast middle class, small business, education, the environment, etc.

I am aware that the Republicans narrowly lost control of Congress.

I am aware that the REPUBLICAN President still has the power of veto.

I am aware that the Democrats do not have enough votes to muster the needed 2/3 majority to reverse any veto by the REPUBLICAN President.

I am aware that many of the seats lost in the last mid term elections went to moderates, not the average leftist Democrat.

I am aware that many of the new moderates in Congress will not vote with the Democrats on some of the more controversial moral legislation facing the next Congress.

I am aware that if the Democrats fail to change anything next year, the 2008 Presidential election will not be an easy victory for them.

I am aware that the Republicans know they need to make changes in order to have a chance in 2008.

I am aware that the majority of this country is still more conservative than liberal, and by going back to its roots, the Republican party can win in 2008.

Dude YOU are the kool-aid drinker here ! How can you say REJECTED when just ONE vote in the senate ( remember if the guy from Dakota who had that stroke or whatever does not come back the senate goes back to the republicans) and it was a tight race in the house - I'm no math wiz but before I would throw around terms like REJECTED i would wait for at least a 10% swing -if you said democrats growing majority or republicans slim minority you would be right -and btw I am a super right wing REGAN REPUBLICAN and can't stand LIMBAUGH or his ilk -do not be so quick to dismiss the republicans yet -1 midterm election is by NO MEANS A LAND SLIDE!

Otherworldtrader continues to make me laugh. Only 33 Senators were up for re-election, and the Democrats managed to gain SIX seats out of those 33. That is a HUGE defeat. Over 60% of voters under the age of 30 voted for the Democrats. The right-wing has become a joke. A punchline. And they don't even realize it. They talk about how "conservative" Democrats got elected (like that somehow means the Republicans won something). But what they don't mention is that the LEADERSHIP is extremely liberal. The Senators taking control of all the Committees are left-wing all the way.

The GOP is a sinking ship. Go to any college campus and see how "popular" the Republicans are. It's over, baby.

the whole MTV vote or die college student on mommy and daddy's credit card generation has made being a republican taboo, almost to the point of admitting you are a republican in certain situations can be dangerous. how funny is it that the democrats are rejecting the freedom of political affiliation? in any event, partisanship is the worst thing to ever happen to democracy. it takes the focus off of issues and onto labels and finger pointing.

I'm not too crazy about many belonging to either party.. I want Dobbs to run as a third party candidate and give the names of those representatives and senitors that support his causes. I would also want him to suggest replacements for those that don't.
