We're not mind readers, if you don't tell us what you don't understand, how can we explain it to you?

I believe that it should be a mutual co operative effort.
both M / F in any kind of relationship might be more successful if they would both listen to each other. Open your mind to a more operative and co operative living arrangement.
Understand or live in harmony. Women will always have a manner in which they think equally so a Man will think in a different manner. Wouldn't it be unusual if men thought like women and women thought like men. Our genetics break that concept up.
In a world that we live in we all need to listen more attentively to be able to understand each other more willingly. Compromise is the best solution in some matters. If required a diagram of sorts. A greater explanation as some women talk and explain in depth a man occasionally only states a few words but the woman may not ask more thus the complex non understanding comes in. Men are from Mars women From Venus though the universe is huge why not meet on Saturn.

Its hard when there are so many diverse thoughts out there.
Women with women don't always understand each other
Men with Men fall into the same category
If we open our minds to more thoughts and not set in our ways
it might be more advantageous for us all.
Our brains are meant to be expanded listen and learn and grow.
Happy New Year

For the most part, women are not difficult to understand. All a guy would have to do is get it into his head that in most ways that matter a woman may be just like him.

Sure, there can be differences in the superficial things sometimes (like movie preferences or living room furniture), but by virtue of their superficiality, those things are pretty obvious to see and understand.

If men cannot get it through their heads that women are humans just like they are and share most of the human thoughts and feelings they do that isn't women's problem, is it...

Its such a simple thing to realize - that no matter what gender someone is he/she is a human and not all that different from us when it comes to the big stuff in life. If men realize that then they can understand women. If they don't then they have a lot of work to do - and, again, it isn't up to women to make sure they don't see half the population as some kind of hard-to-understand, alien, creatures.

Again, all the evidence is in the answers from the women here. They think men are simple and beneath them, that women shouldn't have to change because they're "perfect," that it's actually YOUR problem, etc.

In short, the problem will never be solved because they won't admit there's a problem in the first place. Better to ask men who have extensive experience with women what it's all about; they're more likely to give you an honest answer.

Speaking of which, I guess I might as well press on since I brought it up (to suggest is to volunteer, eh?). The problem is that men think logically: cause and effect, if this then this, etc. Thoughts are usually sequential and result in a realization or a solution.

Women can't be understood logically. They have a much harder time separating their emotions from their logic. Physiologically, their right brain and left brain have more connections due to a larger corpus collosum than men, not to mention the raging hormones they often blame their own actions on. While there have been disputed claims that this makes women more "creative" (note the preponderance of women majoring in the Arts), the major effect is obvious to anyone with half a brain (pun!): they don't think like we do.

It's fascinating to see all the men who have developed these techniques to a fine science. If anyone understands women completely, it's them.

Hope that helped!

So you've polled the billions of women on the planet and come to the conclusion that none of us try to understand men? Riiiiiiiiiight...

Dude, a lot of us DO try to understand and a lot of us DO understand more than you apparently realize...

Men don't "have" to do anything, but men and women will get along a LOT better if both do try to understand the other sex better, and realize that we are different in many ways...we are wired differently and that's okay. That is how it is supposed to be...

We all need to be more understanding of each other and more patient, and realize that he or she isn't always being hard to get along with, they may simply percieve a situation in a different way...

Many men and women do try to do the above...perhaps you just haven't met many of those people...

This is a proverbial life long question. Men don't understand women, but in my opinion, most men agree with women, lest the arguing begins. I would rather say uh huh, or ok, or yes dear and go back to what I was doing. She's happy then that the man understands her wants or needs, and goes away and quits with the bothering.

You think we don't try? Guess what, we do!! But men make it difficult if not impossible. They clam up, ignore you when you try to have a decent conversation, change the subject when they're uncomfortable, etc. Maybe if men tried not to live up to the stereotypes, there could be more communication and better understanding on both sides!!

Women are more than willing to open up, but men don't seem to want to really listen to what they have to say. So how in the world could men understand what they don't know? And they don't know it because they don't WANT to hear it.

I don't understand a single man I know, and they don't understand me. I don't 'expect' them to understand me any more than they 'expect' me to understand them. How can you? We are different, and there's no escaping it. Sadly, women tend to be more emotional and think in a rainbow of needless feelings, where men think in black and white. Neither is better than the other, but it definately makes it impossible to comminicate.

Women tend to be more artistic, emotional, and open, whereas men tend to be black and white and to the point. Neither is bad; both are necessary to function.

I think you are choosing the wrong women. Perhaps you should spend a little more time studying their values, ideas, morals. Be sure they are more in line with yours. There are such women in existence. God bless****

If the man can understand the woman, that's the time the woman will understand the man.
