I myself, never go to sleep before 2. I really can't. It seems as if my body does not produce melatonin until about 1:30. I am never tired before then. all my early bird family members like to make fun of how I could sleep in until 10 or 11. And what about all the times I"ve slept in till 2 pm? Is this "problem" serious enough to be considered delayed sleep phase symdrome? this is a delayed sleep phase certainly, but would it be that seirous as a symdrome?
Also waht should I do about it? I'm giong to spain in 3 days, and peter fabian recommended melatonin pills once I get there. is that part of the solution or anything like that?

YES YES YES, deinitely and of course I am a night owl. It seems I sleep so much better during the day and it doesn't matter if I did or did not sleep the night before. I used to have a night job, but now I work all different hours caring for people, and have noticed my most restful sleep is daytime. I don't think its a problem unless it affects your work or daily living, just plan around your best sleep time if you can. I know society doesn't make it very easy but it can be done. Have a good sleep!!

Well I am 40. And I have never been a day person no matter what I try. I think you are born with the clock pre set. My husband is the same way. I love working at night and seem to get energized when the sun goes down. I have had sleep studies done on me in the past as I went through an insomnia stage where I wouldn't sleep for 2-3 days at a time then would sleep 24 hours straight. No answers were given other than try meditation or pills. I do now take ativan to sleep or to put me asleep when I have to be up early for something. You can try melatonin and see if it helps but it may not you may need something stronger.

I believe in it because I had it, and still do some nights. I suggest just trying to relax before you lay down to sleep. Don't worry about things, if you need to write down everything that you are thinking about before you go to bed, keep a pen and paper by your bed as well. Breathe deep as well that helps. It is probably just your body saying slow down when you sleep in too much. Learn to relax, play some relaxing music when you go to sleep. Don't take pills especially if you are going on a trip soon. You need to know how you will react on them. Try them when you get back. I say this because when you travel you are more prone to things and you are more tired, jet lag sucks! Just try to get 8 hours of sleep a day and no more or less. Hope it works and have an awesome time in Spain!
