I'm trying to open a torrent file on my Windows Movie Maker but it won't work. Is there a download I can get to change the file or mabe there's a codec?

Yeah, your torrent client like bitcomet or utorrent opens the actual torrent file. this starts the downloading of the movie file.
many people upload these files in winrar archives. If you see lots of files that end in .rar0 etc. use the free version of Winrar to open it.

Otherwise, you may have a video file with a error or don't have the right codec. The last 3 version of windows media player have all come with the lasted divx codecs (the most popular codec in the torrent world)

If you still can't play the file, there is one more thing to try. Try to open it with VLAN player. It can read anything!! I promise. It is free but if it can't open it, download a different copy of the movie cuase that one definitely is bunk...

Torrent files are just compressed file containing information about the larger movie file . You can't "open" a torrent file by any player .
I am supposing you mean the larger video file in this question.
Many torrent movies are often xvid , divx avi i think . At the best , use VLC Player , that should play any file .

well assuming u used the torrentfile in a client to download the actual movie .... u would use somthing like winavi to convert to dvd or watever ... get it from the same place u get the movies prolly ... and the codec u need to view most any downloaded movie is ffdshow, and the one player u need for vcd and the like, is videolan ...

Use software "VCD Cutter" to convert "avi" files to "mpeg" format and then import it to WMM for editing.
