people need their mail on sunday too...dont u think so?

To save money. most people don't do business on sunday and htere would really be little reason for the post office to be open.
Most mail i sstill business related .

For the same reason most businesses are closed on Sunday. Usually it is only retailers that are open on Sundays. It also saves money. If one day is going to be that important and you can't wait one more day, well have them fax it.

Ben Franklin wanted the post office to operate 7 days a week, so as not to give the impression that the govt was acknowledging the christian sabbath.

He was overuled on cost reasons.

Banks, most companies, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, just about everyone has Sunday off. So why not the Post Office?

Ben Franklin started the tradition...presumably to gossip after services and let word of mouth be a communication. Presently, most federal ofcs are closed on Sunday, another tradition. All work and no play...

i don't work on sundays. i like having that day off. i'm sure people at the post office do too. so no i don't think they should work sundays.

That's why there is the internet--- and they are closed because it is run by the government, employees are paid by the government and the government works as little as possible--- did you ever count how many vacations the president takes? -- like going to his ranch or camp David?

to save money....they have talked many times over the years to have no mail delivery on Sat. as well, but have not gone that route so far
