We are in the same boat, my friend. I met my fiancé in May, 2005, and we're getting married in mid-Feb, 2007. She will have stay there in the Phillipines for a while. From what I undertand, Immigration has passed some law or policy that it can't take yeeeears to get paperwork processed anymore...It's supposed to take weeks or months, depending on the country. My fiancé is from the Dominican Republic. You will need to fill out form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) found at www.uscis.gov, as well as form G-325A. The cost to process is $190. When you go to the Phillipines to get married, most likely you'll need your passport and birth certificate (at least I do). When you come back home, send off the required forms and a copy of your marriage license. After a few weeks or months (the Website will let you know the schedule), they will let you know whether or not you two have been approved. If yes, you guys will be invited to the Phillipine embassy, she'll be given a visa # and invited to the US. Your living and financial situation play a big part in whether or not she'll be approved for a visa, so you may wanna pay off any debts, or at least lower them. I've called the embassy here in DC so many times, I got a little embarassed, but I kept having more questions when something wasn't specific enough for me on the Website, but they're very nice and cheerfully help you and give you little tips to speed the process along. The national customer service center # is 1-800-375-5283. Good luck, and may you have as many years of happiness as WE plan to! =)

RE:
If I go to Philippines and marry a Filipina, can I bring her back to USA with me or leave her there till later
I have met and been chatting (with cam) with a Filipina for almost a year and we have developed a special love for each other. I am planning to go to visit her in Philippines; if I married her there, I would want to bring her back to USA with me.... will that be possible or allowed? And can I do...

I am also in a relationship with a Filipina. It sounds like you plan to marry in the Philippines. So the first place you will need to head to is the U.S. Embassy located on Roxas Blvd. You will need to get a certificate of eligability to marry and then wait ten (10) days before you can get a marriage license.
Once you are married, you will have to petition the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigation Service (USCIS) for a K series Spouse visa.
This process takes at least a year.
For full details I suggest you go to www.usembassy.state.gov/manila/ and then click for Consular and Visa Services.
I can tell you from experience that the process is a lot of hurry up and wait. But Congratulations to you both.

Go meet her. If you want to get married, go meet her then come home and apply for a fiance' visa. It is easier to get her here as a fiance', than it is a spouse. When I did that, I took the paperwork with me, so we could fill it out together. There are a lot of web sites out there that have all of the information you will need. Don't get an immigration lawyer. You can do it all yourself. Just do some research. You will never regret marrying a girl from the Philippines.Best of luck to you!

First thing... and you must trust me on this because I have seen it so many times and had lived in country for a year in 2000. You do not have any idea the Pandora's box you are getting yourself into. Thinking about marriage without ever meeting her in person is just plain close to insane. About 50% of the girls in country get paid to flirt with unsuspecting guys from the US to get them to send money, come visit etc.. etc.. Most of the time it is a total scam. If it's not a scam then you have to realise that you have no idea about the culture difference between the states and here. So without meeting her many times in person and over a period of time, I think you are crazy to think of marriage this quickly with so little experience and information about the realities of dating a women from a completely different culture and country. That said no you can not just bring her back. You need to first apply for a Fiancee visa get the paperwork and her passport/visa stuff together, sponsor her and have the US embassy in country to issue the visa. After that, she has 6 months in the USA before you must marry (justice of the peace, Vegas etc.. etc.. ) Then she can legally be in the USA. She must stay married to you for at least 2 years for it to be complete. Also, I would highly suggest a prenup.

Nope. You can't take her back with you to the USA right after getting married. You have to petition her. Lots of paperworks to be submitted and filled up. Might take 8 - 12 months before you can be reunited together in USA unless you visit her in between her visa process.
For more info visit the US embassy website.

Bringing her to USA after marrying her in the Philippines is not a problem. Just be sure that the documents are there.
