Both Derogatory and Pejorative insults are defined: belittling, deprecatory, disparaging comments and words; expressive of low opinion and disapproval. But words are all shades of gray. See below:

Derogatory - Tending to lessen the merit or reputation of a person or thing. Tending to detract or diminish.

Pejorative - Tending to make or become worse. Having an effect or force.

Pejorative (not perjorative) is a sysnonym of derogatory. To discribe any insult as pejorative or deragoatory is redundant because any insult, by nature is both pejorative and derogatory...That's what an insult is designed for. Pejorative and/or deragatory comments are negative or insulting in nature.

Although more or less the same, I felt derogatory was more personal and perjorative more generic

The first one is a plain insult and the second one is a lying insult.
