The Rams' conference record is worse than the Packers' and the Giants' so they would have lost the tiebreaker for the last wild card spot. The Rams needed a loss by both teams to have a chance at the last playoff spot, but with the Giants on Saturday, they were eliminated from the playoffs.

Tie breakers. Honestly did you see the scorecard for the Packers to make it. Come on not only do they have to win they need every single other game to work out just right. They have a better chance of all the planets aligning just as they are about to start their game in a sense. Now if all that DOES work out right they move on because of STRENGH OF SCHEDULE. That is stretching it with tie-breakers and the Rams can't use that one. Oh and when you get into the multiple teams you can't wipe one out just because you beat them in a head to head. Say there are 6 teams at 8-8. Say the Packers were 3-2 against them and the Rams were 2-3(and I am making this up not sure how the numbers would be exactly) so even though the Rams have the head to head over the Packers, the Packers hold the edge in total record against the teams tied. That record against all the teams tied is more important once it gets to 3 teams and more.

Since all of the potential 8-8 teams did not play each other, the head-to-head tiebreaker is not used. The next tiebreaker, since all of the teams are not in the same division, is conference record, and the best the Rams can do in conference is 6-6, whereas the Giants are already 7-5 vs. the NFC. Thus, the Rams are eliminated, as were the Falcons and Panthers last night when New York beat Washington.
The only team that can knock New York out now is Green Bay, and they need essentially a miracle to happen to do it, needing the results of eight games go a certain way before they even take the field in Chicago tonight, which is what happens when the teams you manage to beat are a combined 33-72.

probable not. even even with the shown fact that the 49ers are 0-4 suited now, I had them at a million-3 at this factor (in pre-season predictions) and ending with a triumphing record. additionally, the 49ers performed so a lot extra effective immediately against the Falcons than they did in any of their different video games, so as that deliver might desire to be righted interior the very close to destiny. If not the 49ers, the Rams have as sturdy of challenge as every person else, if not extra effective. they only throttled the Seahawks and had a lead interior the 4th quarter against the Cardinals (who're now turning to an undrafted rookie by technique of the call of Max hall to play QB). even with who wins the branch, the right Wild Card might have little hardship attaining the divisional around. it will purely be TOO easy if the 49ers are not the branch winners.

The rams got elimaned once the Giants won I think it has to do with strength of schedule. The packers can, but it is improbable.
Green Bay clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over N.Y. Giants if: Arizona, Detroit, Miami, Minnesota and San Francisco all win and Carolina, Houston and Tampa Bay all lose.

In my opinion, Rams are still in the race.
Likely scenario this week, Cowboys beat Lions, Eagles beat Falcons, Rams beat Vikings, Saints beat Panthers, Bears beat Packers
That would results in the followiing seeds:
1. Bears
2. Saints
3. Eagles
4. Cowboys
5. Giants
6. Rams

because of their record and who they have lost to, and who other teams have beaten, if they were to win, and all other teams with a better record were to lose, they would still not hold the tie breaker, besides, its nothing to worry about, the nfc playoff picture will come down to which of chicago or new orleans can beat the eagles

The Packers will be eliminated as soon as Detroit or Minnesota loses. I don't think either of those teams will even attempt to win, in order to spite their rival.

Because its not the NCAA, and it goes by overall wins, not by strength of opponents or who you beat? Well, except in your own division, because division record breaks the overall record ties.
