No, I think for those who may not be familiar with anime enough to understand the relationships characters have, it's easy to think that some characters have a thing for another one because to non Japanese and people familar with character relationship processes and levels, it really does seem that way.
Gaara dosen't have a thing for lee. Although he was quite obsessed with lee and made it seem that way, he wasn't and there was a reason for Gaara's actions. Gaara had been a child deprived of love, attention, care, and friends, and grew up only knowning hate and not understanding love and devotion to others rather it be friend to friend, brother to sister, or master ot desciple. When he saw Lee and Lee's relationship with Gai-Sensei he couldn't understand it, of someone caring for another person and that is what made him obsessed with Lee and why he wanted to destroy him, as we all know the idea of wanting to destory what we can't understand.

I will support you honey!!! I know you have a thing for yaoi hehe,, I wish Sasuke and Naruto would be together and Gaara and Lee...maybe Neji with naruto...but I want Orochimaru to be straight because he's my favourite character.
I wish he could develope feelings for women i just hope that he will one day..i mean Orochimaru-sama.

um................okay everybody, i'm sure Garra and every other guy in the manga are straight. i mean, Garra doesn't have a thing for Lee. he is soooooooooooooooooo straight. straight as a metal pole. and the naurto, sasuke pair up, not gonna happen. their just friends, peps. i mean, look dont you people have close friends that you dont want to lose?
