This was total garbage. The original with Frank Sinatra, directed by John Frankenheimer is the movie to watch. The direction, editing, and clever fades is a sight to be hold. The funny thing was that this movie was only shown in the movie theatres and was never released on video until now. Mr. Sinatra asked how this great movie was not avaialble. He was informed that his contract to appear in this movie included the fact that he owned the further release of this film without his consent. No one thought to ask him. It is now for all to see. The original blows this remake out of the water.

I agree and question why they kept the title seeing how they were never in Manchuria in the remake.

I hate remakes in general and this was one I didn't care for. You hit it on the nose with the whole direction and editing of the original. It's a great movie(the original) and the remake is really not worth watching.

I actually didn't mind the remake. It was not as bad as many remakes of classic films.

However, I do agree that the original was much better. It was one of Sinatra's best performances in a straight role.

yea, the new one is total crap. I saw the first one first and i thought it'd be interesting to see the older one and it's totally better. I mean, the acting, the storyline, it's all just great.

the only reason it came out on video, was because it would make them money because of the buzz from the new one

Also it was pulled from the theaters and subsequent showings due to the assassination of JFK. That is the main reason it took so long to make it's way back to the public.
