Accompanied by my mother-in-law, I went into this store and picked up a trekking child carrier pack and two other stuff from the store...While in the store we practised the child carrier and the sales associate said i should just wear it for sometime and get used to the feeling, so i did and finally walked up to the cashier to payed for my stuff with my credit card and just walked away. Later when i reached the car i realised that i still had the baby carrier on my back and then i wondered how the cashier put it on the bill because she could not even scan it and to my utter shoxk i realised that i paid only 30.00 bucks in the store and never payed for the child carrier (valued at $295.00) when i told her she said, oh, c'mon don't act so naive, they will think you are fool and etc that i could not go back now i can't sleep because i feel horrible. what to do.

I would swallow my pride and go take it back. It was an honest mistake and I'm sure the salesperson will be very grateful. Saving yourself a little embarrassment is not worth the sleepless nights.

Similer hapened to me just a week ago... cashier did not ring up acuratly... I did not realize till I got home... I went back the next time I went by there and had the receipt with me... I went to the same cashier and bought some of the same stuff as i needed more any way, and had her ring up extra to cover what had not been paid for the last time...that way the cahier did not get introuble for misringing and the store got its correct payment... The cashier number is on the receipt so if you go to the service desk they will know who made the error... it was an honest mistake and no need to cause her any trouble...she was very greatful and apologized profusly...

The honest thing to do would be to take it back, plus it's expensive, and you don't want anyone coming after you.
On the other hand, she should have been paying more attention than to let you just walk out of the store with the carrier that SHE suggested you try out.
-I would take it back, but if you were allowed to follow logic instead of law, keeping it would work out.

What you've got is an admirable and rare case of Integrity honey. You go back and pay for that and be proud of yourself for doing so. In fact, ask for the manager and see if you don't get a nice deal just for being honest. I have to say as much as I try to do the right thing, I would have probably chalked that one up to being someone else's mistake and enjoyed the freebie.

Go back to the store- bring your sales slip and tell them exactly what you just stated. They will be happy that you are an honest and came back to pay for the item.

You are lucky that they didn't have a security lock on it --- if it went off going out the door it would have traumatized your baby--- Thank you for being so honest- and don't bother to tell your mother-in-law that you went back, she obviously doesn't appreciate honesty and sincerity.

The cashier was the fool. You were horrified to realize you hadnt paid for it. Your MIL should have reminded you to pay for it. Although it would be a nice bonus to get it free, You should go to the store's customer service and pay for it as you intended to in the first place
