1. Dress your child lightly, in something "breatheable." Cotton undershirts (onesies) are good- they wick away perspiration but keep the baby covered so they won't get too chilled.

2. Cool damp washcloths on the forehead and back of the neck can feel very good... lukewarm baths are also a comfort.

3. DO NOT give your baby aspirin. Aspirin use can lead to Reye's syndrome, a very serious disease. Use ACETOMINOPHEN (Tylenol) instead.

Don't Rush Your Baby To The E.r As A Fever Is A Good Thing As Funny As It Sounds That Is What Helps The Body Fight Any Infection He Or She Might Have.Lots Of Fluids Are Helpful And You Can Give Baby Tylenol Every 4 Hrs And Motrin Every 6-8.If The Tylenol Doesn't Work In 2 Hrs Give The Motrin. But Don't Worry So Much About The Fever It's Not Dangerous In Most cases Until It Reaches 105 And That Is Very Rear For ANYONE To Get A Temp That High.I Would However Give The Dr. A Call If You Give Both Meds And They Don't Work.Your Baby Could Be Just Teething And If That's The Case A Fever Is Very Normal And Maybe Even Some Fuss.Maybe Even Try Putting Some Teething Meds On The Baby's Gums If The Baby Is Fussy. Also A Luke warm Bath Would Not Hurt. But No COOL water Or Rags.

First, that is a very high temperature for a 15 month old. Call an advice nurse through your insurance or other resource about whether you should be going to an ER.

Alternate Infant Tylenol and Infant Motrin. You can only give Tylenol every 4 hours and Motrin every 6 hours, but you can Motrin a few hours after Tylenol and vice versa.

LUKEWARM bath. Do not make it cold or cool, this will work the opposite way by cooling the baby's skin outside it will force up body temp

Don't use rubbing alcohol as it may drop the baby's temp too fast and cause problems.

Keep up liquids.

Put baby in light clothing

Good luck!

You can give a child both ibuprofin and aceminophen (tylenol and Motrin) stagger then an hour between the two.. If you dont want to use meds - which 102 is kinda high so I would try to if at all possible... otherwise keep the baby in diaper only... use a cool (not ice cold) rag on her head and around the neck.. Keep the baby cool- dont put blankets and stuff on her just a light sheet if the baby is cold... Take the temp once an hour if it doesnt go down or gets higher I would take the baby to the er..

Never, never, never, NEVER give a child aspirin to reduce a fever!!! Reye Syndrome can be fatal. Try alternating Infants Tylenol and Infants Motrin. Don't wrap it up in too many blankets or heavy clothing, it holds the body heat in and will make the temp go up. Try a tepid bath. If these things won't make the temp go back down, take the baby to the ER for an evaluation. Good luck and I hope that things work out well for your youngster.

You shouldn't be giving aspirin to a child. Baby Tylenol and Motrin are better and there are fewer complications. My recommendation is to get the child to the closest ER or urgent care, because if the fever is that high, there's something going on. The fever is the body's way of fighting infection, so sometimes letting it go down on its own can be ok, but in a child this young, it's best to go to the ER. If the child was older, it wouldn't be as bad, but you have to start worrying about seizures caused by fevers. Go to the ER.

Call the Dr. A cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol put on the back of the neck is what my grandmother used to do. Be carefull of giving baths. By lowering the temp and having it spike back up quickly could cause a febrile seizure. It is more-so frightening as hell than anything else, but I learned this the hard way with my daughter. I never gave my son a bath and he never had one. Coincidence, I don't know, but it is not something that I will ever do again. Food for thought

Oh Dont use aspirin for your young child there is a disease called Reyes syndrome that kids get from the aspirin. Use tylenol for him or Motrin. You can also bring the fever down with a bath for him use warm water and let itget quite cold before you take him out. If neither work then the ER is the place to go.

OMG! Never give a child aspirin! It could be deadly! Read the label - Baby aspirin is a low dose of aspirin for adults to thin their blood!! You could give the kid an aneurysm or something.

If you were really using aspirin - call your Dr and figure out what to do next

If you really meant Motrin or Tylenol - then add a cool cloth, fluids and keep on the dosing schedule with your meds. My Dr allows both ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) if you watch the dosing schedule, because they have different amounts of time between doses. Check w. your Dr.

Call the baby's doc and ask. That temp is a wee bit high for an infant. You need to bring it down. Make sure you read the instruction on the dosage for the baby. Infant drops are different from children's dosage. Use tylenol. good luck. If temp keeps climbing, bring immediately to ER.
