I have a wired conn with PC & a wireless conn with laptop, everytime in order to conn with the laptop, I'll need to access Belkin's settings to "Change Channel" to another channel before the laptop is able to conn, else it simply keeps trying to conn with the wireless modem, if I go direct via cable, no problems. What gives, please assist, thanks.

Is your signal strength low? I'm wondering if your laptop is losing the wireless connection in the first place due to a poor signal.

If it is, try every channel until you find the right one. Each channel runs at a different frequency.

Try changing the order of the network your laptop looks for. You can do this by going to the "wireless network connection properties". You can get there by right clicking the connection icon on the task bar (bottom right). Then choose "view available networks". On the left click " Change the order of preferred networks". Here you can click the connection you want and then click to move it up.
