Try "Cowboy Bebop"

My top three anime TV picks in ACTION:

(1) Dragon Ball Z - This anime has almost non-stop fighting action, that I'm sure you've probably heard about. If you haven't seen it before, I highly recommend checking it out. Also, the Japanese version of this is WAY better than what's on TV in the US in my opinion. Trust me, this would've been a more reputable anime if the dubbers didn't butcher it with useless censors and dialogue. If you've seen the US version on TV, and you didn't like it, watch at least the first two Japanese uncut episodes and see if you like it.
This anime has a huge number of episodes. 291 to be exact. And then there are about 13 movies.

(2) Gunslinger Girl - Check this trailer out http://media.funimation.com/trailers/gunslinger/gunslinger_v1_Large.wmv It shows mainly what this anime's about. Keep in mind, however, this isn't exactly a non-stop action anime. It definitely has some really good fast-paced action, but what makes this anime special is the awesome drama connected with amazing artwork.
If you care about action a LOT more than drama (such as relationships), it may be a little dull at times. But there are definitely some emotional, and/or shocking moments.
Unfortunately, the anime is pretty short compared to other animes. The ending of the anime is kind of... open ended. It absolutely has the potential to continue a great long anime. Has 13 episodes in total.

(3) Naruto - This popular anime has lots of action. It's mainly about some preteens being some ninja. I highly recommend watching this with english subtitles in Japanese audio. The main reason I didn't rate this first or second, but rather last, is because of the potential of the anime that's not being used (also, read last comment). I mean, some of it just seems too unrealistic and "pokemonish". I mean, it's far from being the next Pokemon. However, I think it's starting to go to that direction. The jutsu's and stuff can seem a little too unrealistic and childish in my opinion.
This anime has 215 (as of Jan03/2006) and is ongoing.
Now, here's why I think this anime is a little overrated. About a third of the episodes are VERY dull and unnecessary. All episodes past 135, that is. For an example, the preteen ninja go search a special bug for a mission, which lasts a couple episodes. Wow, that was highly uninspired.

Best two action anime movies that I HIGHLY recommend renting for DVD:

(*)Cowboy Bebop The Movie - It's about bounty hunters trying to save the world from terrorists who have some deadly parasites that they unleash in the world. The bounty hunters aim to stop this problem. Great action.

(*)Princess Mononoke - It's about this young prince who tries to save himself from some curse that he got from fighting this cursed boar. He then starts his adventure to save himself. He eventually meets this princess, called Mononoke, who becomes important in the story. Great action too, but more on the adventurous side.

-Sorry I couldn't really put much detail on the movies, but that's because I haven't seen them for a long time.

I'll recommend this animes for you! I hope it helps you!

- The Law of Ueki - this action-packed anime is not that bloody after all. Though action and comedy is it's genre, I learned lessons from Ueki.

- Naruto - all things about being a ninja. The new and anime-style.

- Full Metal Alchemist - Who doesn't want to know about Alchemy?

- Full Metal Panic - It's really an action anime. Lot's of guns and robots.

- Gundam Seed - don't know anything about this but I think this is an action anime. Just based on my observation.

That's all.

GetBackers might do the trick. It's the story of Ban Mido, a mysterious guy with 'The Evil Eye' and Ginji Amano, a guy who can release electricity from his body. The duo are constantly on a mission to "get back" things that their customers - there are many in the series - have lost. Everything from a stuffed animal, your memory, or even the 13th painting of The Sunflower saga by Vincent Van Gogh - as long as it's lost, they'll get it back for you.

It's a good action anime with loads of comedy to boot, and the many characters in the series each ante up the appeal of this anime in their own ways. :)
