seriously, just start grabbing them off the shelf, many have the same formula but in general I find them all scarier than the teen-age fluff that gets churned out here in the states. If I think of any others I'll update you:)

Check out a movie called Three...Extremes. The original movie that the Ring is based on, Ringu, is pretty good. Also I wouldn't call Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, or Lady Vengeance horror(also they are actually Korean) but they will probably be what you are looking for. Not only is this trilogy some of the best modern Asian films I have ever seen, they are some of the best films I have seen in a while period.

The Grudge 2 is the scariest move ever way better than the American Version. It was so scary they won't let Americans play it in Movie Theatre's no joke. Big Differance.

49 days and withchcraft vs curse are good movies but check this site out i purchased a couple of j-horror films and they were good, also check out the movie old boy and the audition
