You need to tell what type of phone you have so someone with a similar phone can give you accurate information.
I have a Motorola E815 V Cast phone.
It uses the format .3gp
I use a video converter to change the format of a video to .3gp, then I put it on my phone.
No need to put third-party software on your phone if you convert the video to the correct format before putting it on your phone.

the vid files are mostly of .3gp . U can also find the formats like .avi,.3gpp but u need to get a third party software for these formats to run on ur fone.
