I'm not sure if it's just a Scottish thing as much a Gaelic or Celtic thing. On my paternal grandmas side we belong to one of the bigger clan in Scotland, according to dad. I have a short temper, which got me in a lot of trouble when I was younger. Now I can control it, thankfully. But I have known Irish lasses that had just as much of temper as I did or worse. lol And I have some Welsh friends who have no patience at all it seems. Good question, really makes me wonder about the urban myth of the red headed temper .

The short, ginger-haired ones do, but that might be more of a redhead thing than a Scottish thing.
I'm Scottish and red-haired, so I can say this!
And to the poster further up the page, SCOT has one 't' when talking about the nation. WIth 2 't's is's a boy's name!

You must be thinking about the Irish.
ps. be careful what you say or the guy above me will likely force you to eat haggis, listen to bad poetry in a glaswegian accent and make you drink Scotch Whiskey until you can't even stagger and end up sleeping under the table on Robbie Burns day.

its a stereotype so of course there are some that do and some people just based a decision on all scotsmen from the probly 10 or so that they know. so not all do but some probly do yes. take it for what u will

It is a myth based on fact - the Scott's are know for being fierce defenders of G-d,country and culture. To cross a Scott is to take on a challenge and that is a high compliment to a Scott. I have never had a truer friend or a more honest one.
