Seems like alot of "anaylist" are raving about Matt Schaub's Potential to be a starter, and many are predicting that he will be traded in the off-season, due to his restricted free agent contract expiring. I've seen Schaub perform on the field, and I must say I'm impressed, but only to a certain extent. Which team do you think he will be traded to?

Maybe the Oakland Raiders? I don't think Mr. Davis will draft a QB, but he might take a chance on trading for Matt Schaub....but then again....maybe not...

Perhaps the Cleevland Browns?....They might take a chance on drafting hometown favorite Troy Smith, but the last thing the Browns need is another inexperiecned QB. so trading for Matt Schaub might make sense.

Any other teams in mind?...what do you think? ((calling all my yahoo anaylist))

I'd say Oakland is out of the picture. I'd say Oakland is hands-down the team that most needs a high-potential prospect at quarterback, especially one that's spent a couple years in the NFL (albeit mainly on the bench). I'd even go so far as to say it would be an excellent fit for both sides, given that Schaub would likely start immediately and the Raiders would finally have a passing threat. With all that said, the Raiders won't do it, because they're... well, the Raiders. Al Davis seems to love taking a chance on guys who are just slightly past their prime or have had questionable performances in other venues. Schaub probably isn't even a blip on their radar. Damon Huard will end up a Raider before Schaub will.

I'm a Falcons fan and I like Schaub. I think he's a great prospect who could have bigtime QB potential. I don't want to see him in another jersey next year, because let's face it - say he's as good as some of the analysts think - the Falcons are already hearing it about taking Vick ahead of LT. What if Schaub is the next Favre, or Brady? I mean, we already let the last Favre go!

I think the teams looking to actually sign Schaub could be the Raiders (but it won't happen), the Lions and maybe even Jacksonville. I think the Panthers will be interested as well, but Schaub would likely be relegated to a backup role there for a couple of years, and I think he's looking for a starting gig.

Odds are, he's in a Lions uniform to start the season. Will be great to see what he'll be like in that offense - I think with the right QB, that team will be tough to defend.

I bet Plummer is wearing silver and black pretty soon...

Schaub will still be a restricted free agent, meaning the Falcons can tender the highest offer for one season and take a first and a third if any team signs him. Moving him is going to take a sign and trade deal, and considering Atlanta turned down a second round pick from the Vikings for him last season, it looks like it's going to take a first rounder.

I don't like Oakland in this scenario because their pick will be too high. The Moss deal only involved a first rounder because the class was generally weak. You're right, it'd make sense, and that's exactly why Al Davis won't pursue it.

The Browns have invested more into Frye than probably neccessary, but he doesn't look incompotent. If Crennel goes, or stays under guise that the GM Savage has been calling the shots, then I could see it going through.

Minnesota is almost certainly out, because they moved on and used a second rounder on Jackson. Green Bay has the same problem as the Raiders, the pick is too high, but Rodgers doesn't look good (apologies to anyone who thinks otherwise) and a package involving a high second rounder may be sufficient.

Gruden and Paul Allen have never had a problem with unreasonably loading up at an offensive skill position, particularly quarterback, and, don't forget, even with Simms on the roster. Detriot has probably figured out that McCown's potential is only a theory.

DARK HORSE: Trent Green has phantom nerve damage from the excessive surgeries, so Kansas City is a possibility, albeit remote.

I say the Texans or the Vikings. Both do not have high enough draft picks to be in the Quinn-Brohm pursuit, but they can offer the Falcons enough to get Schaub. Also Schaub is in the last year(s) of his contract and Atlanta knows they can't afford to keep Vick and Schaub. Arthur Blank has his head so far up Vick's rear, he has a number 7 on his tonsils. The organization will want to get something before he bolts after his contract expires. The Texans and Vikings have the cap room to accomodate him.
David Carr will wind up being someone else's Joey Harrington next year.
I do see Jake Plummer in Silver and Black given Al Davis' track record of bonehead moves. He will probably bypass Quinn or Brohm and take Adrain Peterson thinking that he is the second coming of Bo Jackson. THe problem with that is Peterson had trouble staying healthy behind Oklahoma's O-line, he will be a training room fixture behind Oakland's. IMO, if Quinn is gone before the Raiders get to the podium, they might want to look at the left tackle out of Wisconsin. This guy could allow Art Shell to do what he does best, coach up lineman.
As for the Lions, if they don't get the top pick, they will sign another free agent QB to patch work their offense. Mike Martz will push for a QB in the later rounds since he seems to have a knack for developing obscure QB's. Patrick Ramsey might be a name that Lions fans will come to know this off-season.

Schaub is actually the best QB on the Falcons. Vick has regressed since he came out of college and regresses further with each passing season.

Schaub will probably not be traded because the Falcons know that he's going to start for them when Vick tears his ACL (if a player as great as Daunte Culpepper couldn't play the year after he tore his ACL, there is no chance Vick will and its inevitable that he's going to tear his ACL on one of those running plays eventually) and he's going to be their long-term solution. Even if Vick never gets hurt again, he'll eventually age and lose his speed and once he does, his career will be over. Vick has played half his career at a point where most QBs are only a quarter of the way through their career. Schaub is about the same age as Vick, but he's got alot longer to go.

The Falcons don't want to be stuck with Doug Johnson and Kurt Kittner again.

Raiders wont go with Schaub, they'll have a top 3 pick if not top overall, and they'll want to use it on a marquee name like Brady Quinn. Plus, with their O-line troubles, they've been looking for a more mobile QB, thats why they brought in Brooks. They've shown they're looking to develop a franchise QB too, with Andrew Walter - whether or not they're ready to call it quits on the Walter experiment remains to be seen, but if they do, expect them to bring in another young talent, and if not, they wouldnt bring Schaub in just to mentor him.

The Browns could be a team looking for a veteran to help Charlie Frye develop. The Bills might be another, though Losman has been looking stronger. The Jets might want him as insurance against another Pennington injury, now that they're playoff contenders in the AFC East again.

The most likely scenarios, though, would be Green or Tampa Bay. The Packers would be a perfect fit for him if Favre does retire, or if they trade him, to fill in while Aaron Rogers matures to starter level. The Bucs are in the same place, with two young QBs (Simms and Gradkowski) who have been inconsistent and could use a veteran influence and bring some competition to training camp.

i might provide Feeley the nod simply by fact Schaub is dealing with the harder protection. i would not anticipate the inconsistent Feeley to placed up numbers like he did against the Patriots final Sunday night, yet he could have the skill to locate the top zone once or twice against the Seahawks. Seattle is super at homestead, yet they are able available on the line.. Schaub has Andre Johnson lower back interior the lineup, yet that Tennessee D isn't uncomplicated.

There will be many other teams that will take that person that will turn him into a star as well be very beneficial to the team that will climb into one of the best teams in the league.
