Maybe it's just me - I mean, I know this is a hugely popular episode and all - but I can't figure out what others see in it. In my opinion, it's not deep or profound. As far as I'm concerned, the whole show is built on a bad pun.

Ah, but don't let my opinion scare you... do you agree or disagree? If my comments are totally whacked, tell me why.

It's based on the classic short story of the same name by science fiction author Damon Knight. I think he's written a number of off-beat stories.

The source of the story probably lends come cachet to the episode, along with the ending's amusing combination of horror and, as you put it, a bad pun.

Well it was interesting because of the fact that man as a whole is a trusting species, even though we try our hardest not to be...

However my personal favorite would be "Time enough At Last"...

Also "Talking Tina" and "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder"

Twilight Zone is one of the best ever series to have come on television...

You watch them now, and realize how many movies/shows have ripped off ideas presented in the Twilight Zone...Rod Serling was a genius!

Like you I never thought "To Serve Man" was one of Twilight Zone's better episodes, but then I first saw it almost twenty years after it first aired. When watching the show you do have to keep in mind that it was aimed at an audience that had not yet seen man go into space.

A decent episode in my opinion, but not that great. However, the irony to it is that We (Mankind) are so egocentric as to think an alien culture would be subservient to us before thinking that we might actually be food for them. It is really more an episode to make you think than a spectacular entertainment value in itself (which is true of the entire TZ series really).

It is really pretty funny when you think about it. I mean you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see the end coming.....

It is popular because it is one of the first examples of twist endings and its scary cuz you think the aliens are nice but they want to eat you~!

It's not a pun, it's a misinterpretation. It was scary at the time it first aired.

what i think it comes from is at the beginning you see that guy in the room and then you figure out why he is in there and well how gullible people are.
