I'm a student of chemical engineering in Mexico, and I'd sure love to go to another country to get my hands on a chemical engineer job... what do I need to do that? (meaning, paperwork, where do I start, etc.)

Canada generally welcomes immigrants with open arms. To go to Canada you would need to obtain a job offer in order to apply for a temporary work permit. The best way to go is to apply for perminent residency under the NAFTA skilled worker program. You should qualify with a Chemical Engineer B.S. degree. Best bet is to find a Mexican national company with jobs overseas, that way you maintain stability and a link back to Mexico when/if you want to get back. In that way, they'll help you navigate the challenges of the particular country you want to work in.
