I'm exhausted but I can't sleep. I've got a cold which makes me more tired so I should be able to sleep but I just can't. Also I've had horrible constipation pains lately. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and would kinda like to know if maybe she'll arrive soon.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I'm going to tell you anyhow. I just gave birth to my son on the 24th, and I had the same symptoms as you are describing up to 3 weeks before birth! It could mean it's close, but don't get your hopes up! I thought I was going to go into labor when I had those symptoms, only to have my baby 3 days after my due date.

The day before I went into labor I was really energetic. I wasn't tired at all, but seemed to sleep well that night. I was having some diarrhea the night before also. The next morning I woke up to contractions 5 minutes apart, but didn't give birth until 32 hours later! I didn't lose my plug until I was in the beginning stages of labor and at the hospital, and they had to break my water there.

Good luck and congrats! You are almost there! I know it seems like it's been forever and a day huh? this may sound weird, but once you give birth you will kind of miss being pregnant, I know I do! I miss the little guy kicking me :)

Insomnia A Sign Of Labor

2017-01-18 07:28:12 · answer #2 · answered by loukx 4 · 0 0

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

The insomnia could just be from stress and the cold itself. You just need to watch for contractions that are regular and 5 minutes apart, or leaking fluid or blood. Call your doctor if problems or concerns.

I think insomnia is a normal part of late pregnancy. I used to lay awake all night, absolutely exhausted in the late stages of pregnancy but i don't think it was connected to the start of labour. Hopefully for you it is as you must be over the pregnancy by now & hoping to meet your little one asap.

Possibly but I only remember having trouble sleeping because near the end it gets more uncomfortable. Try to relax and do whatever it takes to take it easy and get some rest whenever that may be.

Lisa darlin I hate to be the only one to tell you this, but, my ex was constipated right before the birth and she never slept. However after the baby was born she slept all the time and that little poop (the baby) was never constipated.
So just be ready for whatever and enjoy the miracle.
